The town of Cedar Key is perfect for pets, very little traffic and lots of sidewalks or tree lined streets. Faraway Inn makes the experience a dream for pets and a pleasure for owners. No burdensome rules & regs, just clean up any messes (they provide many stations for doggie bags and disposal). Not once did I hear any howling, barking or whining. Everybody just got along.

The grounds are well kept with vegetation identified by markers and culinary herbs for the cutting. BBQ grills, kayaks and bicycles were provided free of charge (no paperwork, either).

Don't come here expecting to be waited on, cell phone service is lousy too. There is a local phone provided free and WiFi is available but a little weak. The whole tone here is just relax and enjoy yourself.

Thanks, Oliver & Doreen. We'll be back someday.

We visited Faraway in August with our 2 labs. This property is made up of cottages complete with everything you need to make your stay complete. We were greeted by Heather upon our arrival. She was warm and friendly. The Faraway offers bikes, and canoes free for their guests to use during your stay. There are also grills available in various areas of the property. And this place is VERY pet friendly. Treats greeted our labs in the rooms along with some "Faraway" bandanas. They have extra towels for you to dry your pet (after their dip in the gulf). Around the property are beautiful gardens and areas to sit and enjoy the tranquility. There are also porch swings available that overlook the gulf. I cannot begin to describe how wonderfully relaxing this place is. We hated to leave!!! We will definately return!

This place is so awesome, but I hate to give it a good review because then it's hard for me to get reservations when I want! They are little cottages with bikes, canoes, and kayaks to use for free. There are outside grills and little kitchens inside. Nearby, there is fresh seafood to get. It was my birthday and I got really lucky to get 1/2 bushel of oysters from the guys at the marina for $20. They were big, salty, and really more than a typical half bushel. On the grill, they were just awesome with drinks. They even had fresh grown herbs to add free for their guests. It was really fantastic to watch the Gator game (win!) through the window. We had an awesome time in this sleepy little fishing village. Escape from the planet, it's nice here, and it's close enough to Gainesville that it's not a huge road trip adventure, love it!

Just like the town in which it is located, Cedar Key, the Far Away Inn is not the lap of luxury. No spa, no martini's. But it does have a friendliness and charm that makes for a nice stay.

This is a place where you will sit down and visit, watch the sunset and enjoy a few days off an otherwise hectic life. You will also enjoy some exercise and fresh air.

The location is close to town, just a few block walk to the shops and restaurants. We parked the car upon arrival and did not move it until we left.

While not "new and fluffy" everything there was clean and comfortable. I will stay there if I make it back to Cedar Key.

If you want to get away and relax, this is the place! Love it ! Have been coming here for years . Use their bikes and kayaks to get around the island. Little to no traffic, and the magaritas and grouper are wonderful. Out of the way, but worth the trip. It's like Florida use to be when I was a kid!
