“Sweet Little Beach Motel”

We recently stayed at the Admiral Hotel in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. I had been to the Admiral once before with my now husband when we were dating and was honestly... not very impressed... So naturally, when my husband wanted to stay there again (his family vacationed in Rehoboth during his childhood and always stayed at the Admiral), I was skeptical.

I don't know what changed about the Admiral since my last stay (it could have just been my attitude), but our stay was just great! Our room was clean (with perhaps a new carpet since my last stay?) and looked out over the busy boardwalk. The Admiral has all outdoor hallways, which was perfect for parking our sandy towels and bathing suits on the patio chairs outside our room (the patio chairs were also great for sitting and reading after a long day at the beach.) The Admiral staff was very friendly, even loaning me a pencil to take out to the beach for my crossword puzzle.

Perhaps one of the greatest things about the Admiral is its close proximity to the beach and boardwalk. It is just a stone's throw from one of the quieter areas on the main Rehoboth Boardwalk. We felt like part of the action, without feeling like we were too close to the bustling summer boardwalk to settle in and get a good night sleep. We were close enough to the beach to head to our room when we forgot something or wanted to avoid the public bathrooms. At night, we could come up from the boardwalk to see a pretty nice view (although a little obstructed) of the hustle and bustle.

Is the Admiral THE vacation getaway? No. But its a very sweet, clean, beach motel that's safe to sleep in and close to all the fun spots in little Rehoboth. We will be back!

“They call this a hotel? This looks like a crappy motel! I can MAYBE come back again.”

Hello. I have stayed here with my family from August 14 to August 19 in 2011 and I have to say that even though its right next to Grotto Pizza, right next to the beach, and they also have a pool, this hotel is ok even though they don't have some things I like. They have kind workers there and this "hotel" (or motel because it looks like one) has nice rooms too with all the channels I can watch like at home. Their sun deck was really nice and its great walking around Rehoboth too. So, I rate this 4 stars, its was not bad.

“Not worth the price, very overrated, rundown, DATED”

A few days before we were scheduled to come here, I checked the reviews. I was excited to see that they were very good overall, and was looking forward to our arrival. Boy, was I in for a surprise.

The rooms are very cramped, and the whole hotel needs a complete renovation. It looks like this place has not been renovated since the Bradys era! There were stains on the chair in my room! Actual stains. In the hallways, there was paint chipping everywhere. On the walls, on the stairs, UNDER the stairs, etc. Very neutral colors not updated ever, so it seems. Also, has air conditioner from unit, not central. So, if you sleep in bed closest to a/c, you may be chilly, while person on far end may be hot. Oh, they aldo use old fashioned keys, not card keys.

One day in room, we dropped some Cheerios. When we returned, we were happy to see that maid vacuumed up. Upon further inspection, though, there were quite a few under the sheet on the floor. This was never fully vacuumed during rest of stay. Also, they do not replace shampoo or soap unless you call downstairs to request.

On first day we got there, it was raining. We called downstars since remote was not working. They were nice, however, could not figure out problem, and left me with new remote and instructions on how to program!

On night before we were to leave, I went downstairs to inquire about late checkout. "NO!" the woman said rather condescendingly. When I asked how come, she said they were completely booked. When I returned next morning, and inquired with different person in front, she said they were not booked, however, do not allow late checkouts during summer. Yet person night before flat out lied to me!

The one good point was the pool. It was very convenient and was great to fall back on during bad weather. Also, the location was great. That being said, was hard to look at Sands across the street and not be a little disappointed.

In conclusion, save your money and go somewhere else. Last year we stayed at Holiday Inn Express but had to take bus to town each day. Much worth it, as buses were great, ran consistently, and was better value in all facets. Sorry, Admiral "Hotel" is, to me, a motel, with 5 floors.

“Close to everything you could want to do at Rehoboth”

Hotel was very noisy at night and parts of the bathroom looked they needed to be replaced. However the staff was very nice. Having a mini-fridge and microwave in the room was definetly a money saver and a very nice thing to have. While parking was plentful, it was not marked very well where to enter into the parking garage.

“On the boardwalk and affordable”

I'd say the Admiral is ok in a positive way: it's clean and offers all the basics. You can't beat the location and, considering it's right on the boardwalk, the rates are reasonable. It's not fancy, but really at the beach you don't need it--who's spending time in the room?
All the staff were very accommodating and friendly.
Too many kids in the pool--didn't use it.
