I have stayed at numerous Super 8's in the past with few issues. The New Castle DE location is a nightmare. The entire hotel smells rancid. The rooms are filthy with the bathrooms being filled with mold and pubic hairs from prior guests. There is no excuse for the level of filth in this hotel. Anyone who has left a positive review is either a relative or friend of the owner just boosting their ratings.

The beds are also horrible - very soft and worn out. The beds need to be replaced as they also sag with the edges being totally broken down.

The owners are obviously very cheap. There are signs around the continental breakfast stating the "Health Department" prohibits taking food into the rooms for sanitary conditions. Yet, our room had a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker with cream and sugar packets. What they really want to say but maybe can't is that the cheap muffins and cereal must be eaten in the area and not taken out of the area cause they don't want to provide a breakfast to go for people in a hurry.

When the above issues were brought to the attention of the management they said... what do you want us to do about it... I said correct the issues... "Oh... We can't do that!" was their reply.

Unbelievably Horrible was the total over-all experience at this hotel - Avoid at all costs !!!

This is a family run hotel.
The room smelt of smoke - one of the staff said that although it is supposed to be a non-smoking hotel, people don't care!
The room had a fridge but the water did not drain easily from the basin (partially blocked pipe which they could not fix).
Although there is a fire station nearby, we never heard any fire engine sirens during our 2 day stay.
The breakfast is ok but you have to keep asking for everything like jam and milk!
There are various eating places nearby and the Christiana Shopping Mall about 10 minutes drive - it is supposed to be tax free but we thought everything seemed just as expensive.

This place deserves 5 strikes.

1. Location in adjacent to a fire station, which had at least one call every evening.
2. Access in and out of the location is very poor and I felt I had to go out of my way. Traffic can be very heavy on the road which also makes it difficult to get in and out.
3. Cleaning staff turned off A/C every day and opened window. This made room uncomfortably hot when I returned from work site in the afternoon.
4. The housekeeping staff did not leave any towels in the room for the last two days of my stay.
5. Beds are uncomfortable and the pillow are skimpy.

Overall, the place seems run down and I got the impression that the management is cutting costs at the expense of the guests.

This is a place to avoid.

We stopped here for one night, on our way south. We checked the mattress first, and no bugs. The blanket had "something" on it, so we pulled that off onto the floor. The room smelled musty. The lobby smelled like smoke, even though there was a No Smoking sign. The plug for the bathroom sink was lying on the sink. We didn't even bring our luggage inside. We just brought in the clothes we would need for the next day! The motel has weekly rent rates, so there are construction workers staying. The continental breakfast was bagels, juice, cereal, coffee. The only good thing is that it was cheap. We would never have areason to stop here again, but would not recommend.
