I consider this motel a good value overall. I have stayed here numerous times over the last year and have had very few complaints.
I was surprised by the number of people complaining about the security guard and id requirement, as this is one of the best features of the motel. The location is unfortunately not a good part of town. The other motels at that intersection (Budget Inn and Super Lodge) have nicer rooms with w-fi, but they also have beggars, hookers, and other sorts of degenerates hanging around. The Motel 6, with an armed security guard, does not have these problems.
The staff is friendly and will usually try to get me my requested room. Once I got a room with a gross smell in the carpet and they immediately reassigned me to another room. I haven't had many problems with noisy neighbors.
My biggest complaint is the heating/cooling system. Apparently it can only provide heat or A/C for the entire motel, it is not switchable between rooms. So around April they switch the entire system from heat to A/C, and in October they switch it back. My last stay was in April 2011, and they had switched to A/C, and the outside temps went down to 45 degrees overnight, and it got very cold in the room. Luckily I still had my winter coat and an extra blanket in the car, so I was able to get back to sleep. So be sure to inquire about the heat/AC especially if you are staying in the spring or fall.
Another gripe is that the room cards always deactivate after one night, even if you've paid for more than one night, so you have to go back to the front desk and reactivate them.
The only other downside is the lack of wi-fi, but for the price I'm not complaining about that.
