We just made our second visit to the Savannah Inn, and can't recommend it highly enough. Gina, the innkeeper, has made a beautiful renovation of this house, sympathetic to the period style, but thoroughly modern throughout. The interior styling is simple and elegant, and it is a really welcoming place to stay. It is also very thoughtfully arranged - rooms are comfortable to spend long hours in if you don't want to be sociable with other guests, or you can hang out in the attractive communal area which is well-furnished. Gina is also a terrific cook - the breakfasts are always excellent and attractively presented - homemade granolas and fruit salads, as well as a different hot dish each day, such as light-as-a-feather pancakes (pumpkin, or ricotta and lemon) or crisp polenta with eggs.
Even if you don't find more than a day's activities to do in Lewes, there are also great beach walks to north and south, as well as the outlet shopping and cheerful boutiques in the Rehoboth area, so the Inn is a perfect base for a great getaway for a few days.
