We decided to give Timberline a try because we saw a unit the year before which was very nice and spacious. We also liked the decor, the overall standard and the fact that it is facing the slope.
Upon arrival we were very surprised to realize that our unit was very crammed - it was a one bedroom and a loft unit with two bathrooms. We could hardly walk around, going to the bathroom at night was a problem as one could bump into furniture, and my 16yrs son, who was given the loft room, could not walk straight as the room was so low. Furthermore, the bathroom in the loft did not have a shower as the low celing would not allow one. The staircase to the loft is so steep that it would be a hazard for small children. In other words, this unit is not suitable for a family with small children or teenagers. The loft is not suitable to anyone really.
After two nights at the condo, I had enough and requested a refund which was given immediately with no questions asked. We then rented a much better/superior quality, much more spacious unit in Aspen for much less - bear in mind we got a good price on that as it was a last minute booking and the unit was not on the slope, but in any case, we saved $2000 just to give you a sense of the savings/price difference.
I would not recommend Timberline unless you are willing to pay the price to stay in the bigger units and if you love Snowmass after the ski hours. I personally found Snowmass to be boring after ski as the mall is small and one runs out of options quickly. Aspen is so much more fun! But this is a very personal choice.
The best part of Timberline was being ble to leave your skis right at your door step. But for that price and at the expense of feeling like in a sardine box, I prefer to walk my skis home.
