“Great Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2009

We stayed here with our family of twin 12 year old boys. The condo was clean, well stocked with supplies and everything worked well. Our son broke his leg and they moved us to a first floor room and let us stay after check out time untill our flight. Transportation was always there when we needed it and the village mall was within easy walk.

“Wonderful Experience”

It's snowing in Snowmass! I have been to Colorado skiing before but this was my first stay at Timberline. It was a wonderful experience! The ability to be right on the slopes provided us easy accessibilitiy for my family. We had a two bedroom condo and our friends had a one bedroom. Both units were wonderfully furnished and very comfortable. The fireplaces made it very cozy. The staff at Timberline were wonderful. They helped us all get where we needed to go around the Village, as well as provided guidance on how to get around the Aspen/Snowmass area. Aspen is only a brief bus ride away from Snowmass. The bus stops right at Timberline. It's economical and a great way to meet other skiers from around the world. Dining and shopping in Aspen is expensive and the slopes are very steep. Snowmass skiing is awesome and much more accessible. For the value and the family time together, this was a much better experience than any of the other Colorado skiing experiences I have had in the past. We will definitely stay here again.

  • Liked — Ski in and ski out. Also loved the skiing at Snowmass much better than any other resort area in CO.
  • Disliked — I can't say that any thing was horrible about our stay.

“HORRIBLE condo and experience”

I booked Presidents week at the Timberline many months ago through the Aspen/Snowmass central reservation department. We arrived home today and there is not a single thing I can say positively about the Timberline, except that it is directly on the slope. First, they say the pick you up at the airport. They came 30 minutes after I called them with an SUV NOT big enough for my family and the other family who was on the same flight. After 15 minutes where the driver tried to figure out what to do, my husband ended up taking a taxi for $50. We were NOT reimbursed. The unit is small, dated and very, very basic. The hotwater heater for the unit was not nearly big enough for the 5 of us to all shower and we had to wait for the water to get warm between showers. The housekeeping staff "accidentally" threw out a lot of our CLOTHES and when I called to discuss it with the manager I was given the run-around. The clothes were returned, but no apology. The van will only take you around Snowmass, NOT into Aspen. The front desk was not open the morning we checked out at 6:30am, no coffee was made and there was no one to help with our bags. The person driving us to the airport was 15 minutes late. The pool/hottub smelled so disgusting my children became nauseous and we never returned to it again. Every single staff member we encountered was nasty, surly and truly unconcerned about the guest satisfaction.
I could not have been more disappointed with the Timberline. Stay away!
All of this for almost a thousand dollars a night!!!
btw my family takes on average 4 major trips a year and I have stayed everywhere from motel 6 to the 4 seasons...

We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo with a loft. It was so spacious and decorated beautifully. We had a wonderful view and would come back here again. We stayed on the third floor and it was a bit of a hike to get there from the parking lot but it was fine for us.

“Very Small Condo for the Price”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 May 2007

We decided to give Timberline a try because we saw a unit the year before which was very nice and spacious. We also liked the decor, the overall standard and the fact that it is facing the slope.

Upon arrival we were very surprised to realize that our unit was very crammed - it was a one bedroom and a loft unit with two bathrooms. We could hardly walk around, going to the bathroom at night was a problem as one could bump into furniture, and my 16yrs son, who was given the loft room, could not walk straight as the room was so low. Furthermore, the bathroom in the loft did not have a shower as the low celing would not allow one. The staircase to the loft is so steep that it would be a hazard for small children. In other words, this unit is not suitable for a family with small children or teenagers. The loft is not suitable to anyone really.

After two nights at the condo, I had enough and requested a refund which was given immediately with no questions asked. We then rented a much better/superior quality, much more spacious unit in Aspen for much less - bear in mind we got a good price on that as it was a last minute booking and the unit was not on the slope, but in any case, we saved $2000 just to give you a sense of the savings/price difference.

I would not recommend Timberline unless you are willing to pay the price to stay in the bigger units and if you love Snowmass after the ski hours. I personally found Snowmass to be boring after ski as the mall is small and one runs out of options quickly. Aspen is so much more fun! But this is a very personal choice.

The best part of Timberline was being ble to leave your skis right at your door step. But for that price and at the expense of feeling like in a sardine box, I prefer to walk my skis home.

  • Liked — close to the slope
  • Disliked — size for the price
