“B&B sweetness”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

First off this is a bed and breakfast and so if you are looking for a Ritz Carlton then stay at a fancy hotel. If you are looking for a comfortable, rustic B&B with loads of charm then you should check it out. The owners are very nice and they certainly try to make your experience a pleasure! The breakfast is fantastic! Definately a crowd pleaser! We stayed in the house and so we shared a bathroom with another couple. We knew this ahead of time and that was fine. The house is a bit off the main road but the drive is worth it because of the atmosphere.

“Quaint, relaxing get-away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

I needed a place to stay with my daughter after an away soccer game. I wanted it to be special for us and this B&B was perfect! It was close enough to town to be convenient but yet far enough away to provide the tranquility and nature experience we both love. We stayed in the main house which was quiet and had a shared bath. If we go back I would love to stay in the barn suite or one of the cabins which looked even more charming and private. The owners were friendly and engaging, cooked a delicious gourmet breakfast and shared a lot of good info regarding hikes and restaurants. What my daughter and I enjoyed most were the grounds: they have pygmy goats, a river and bridge, big tree swing and flower gardens surrounding the house. In the barn you can explore the upper level and sip coffee while looking out over the grounds. If you are lucky you may even catch the owner singing and playing his guitar out on the porch. This was beautiful in the Fall when we were there but I am sure the summer and winter are great as well due to the wealth of outdoor activities in all seasons. Sunlight ski area is a short drive up the road, the Hotsprings are 15 min away and we also rollerbladed through Glenwood canyon.

“Wonderful stay, amazing breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

My husband and I had a 2 night stay at this lovely, charming, historical bed and breakfast. We travel alot, and this b&b was one of the best we've visited.

ACCOMMODATIONS: Clean, bright, beautifully decorated. The beds were comfortable, clean. Toiletries included (soaps, shampoo, bath salts), as well as oversized bath robes. The hostess (Sharill) cleaned our room and made our bed while we were out.

HOSTS: Jim and Sharill are so sweet. Talkative, love to tell stories, and know the area very well so they gave us excellent restaurant and sight seeing recommendations. Jim is a musician, and Sharill is an artist. Both wonderful, creative, down to earth people. We loved our conversations with them. And they were excellent hosts.

BREAKFAST: Best breakfast we've ever had at a b&b! We don't want to spoil the surprise for you by telling you what they serve, but trust me, it's AMAZING. They will accommodate dietary restrictions, so be sure to tell them when you arrive. Much of the ingredients are organic, or locally grown (the eggs were actually from a neighbor's chicken coop). And Sharill makes the most amazing cookies!!!

HISTORY: The house is full of amazing artifacts. In fact, the house and barn are registered with the US National Register of Historic Places for 1885! Up in the barn loft there are blown-up photographs from 1919 of homesteaders leaning against the outside barn wall. So if you have kids, or you are a history lover, then this will surely be a treat for you. (Also, ask Jim about his collection of "spent bullets" and the picture of his father in the military in the early 1900s... very interesting stuff!)

LOCATION: The location is awesome. Tons of hiking. Very picturesque. It's a simple 15 minute drive to Hanging Lake trail. Glenwood Springs the town is very quaint, and you can get to Aspen and Breckenridge in an hour or so, one way.

Possible concerns: They have a very big Bernese mountain dog (stays outside on the porch). So if you are scared of or highly allergic to dogs, this may not be the place for you. But he's a very sweet dog and is great with people and kids.

Jim and Sharill, thank you so much for everything, and see you again next year!

Melissa & Matt (the musicians)

“Exceeded my expectations!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

Quiet peaceful setting, super-friendly and down-to-earth hosts, and a delicious breakfast! I stayed in the Blackbird room, which was not extremely spacious, but very clean and perfectly adequate for one person. I highly recommend this place!

“so nice and peacefull and the breakfast.....Hmmmm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

when we arrived with my 85 year old mom, she did not know what to think about the place. We woud be sleeping in a cabin. Being the last 10 days in many places this was not what she thought would be nice. But within 1 hour she just loved it. The beds were excellent, the place beautifull and peacfull and we all slept like a princesses.
the breakfast was just overwelming, WOW!!!. So good and to much! The owners were the most friendly persons we could think off. I do hope to come back there again soon.
They could give a lot of information about the area, where to eat ecc. Just perfect , everything!
