“they do have good sushi in a beautiful restaurant with decent prices.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

You know the saying, "you can never have too much of a good thing"? Sometimes this is true. You can have too many beers, too much sugar and yes, you can have too many cats (all much to my chargin). However, you can never have too many friends, too many dinner dates and too much sushi. I was fortunate enough to have all three on the night I went to check out the new Suehiro location on the east side of town.

Suehiro has been Fort Collins' sushi mecca for 25 years in the heart of Old Town on Linden Street. With locations already in Colorado Springs and Telluride, owners Ed and SeonAh Kendall added a second Fort Collins location in the Front Range Village Center on East Harmony at the end of November. This location is less traditional and seemingly smaller than the Old Town spot, but with a more sophisticated, modern atmosphere. However, it is also lacking the nuances that make Japanese dining a unique experience (hot towels, tatami tables, etc.).

he sushi was great. It was fresh, firm, well formed with delicious flavors of the sea. I was less than impressed with the Spider Roll ends which were somewhat difficult to eat with the fried crab protruding out from them. I also think they could have simplified the rolls some, leaving off the garnishes of mayo and whatnot. The sushi is good enough to stand on it's own and sometimes less is more. In this case, the flavor of the roll would shine through making them even better - the Dragon Roll and Buddha Roll were great examples of this. This is exactly why I think the best pieces we had came from the sashimi orders.

Many people claim that Suehiro is the best sushi restaurant in Fort Collins. While I wouldn't make that claim, they do have good sushi in a beautiful restaurant with decent prices. That night at Suehiro I found that less is more when it comes to sushi concoctions and additional flair, but you can never have enough friends to enjoy it with.

“Simply the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2011

Suehiro's is simply the best in Colorado for sushi, since we don't have ocean views,it is hard to get good fresh fish. Suehiro's fits the bill. we have gone there numerous time and have never been disappointed. They always have some new roll or something yummy. This time it was the 007 roll, it truly was the best.

“Don't go hungry.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2011

My husband and I had the absolute worst service I have had in a restaurant ever. We knew it was a busy night, and were willing to be patient, but the waitress was horrible. She never checked on us. About 45 minutes after placing our order she came by to say our ticket had been lost. A half hour after that, without her ever letting us know what was going on, we asked for our check. I could see that our order hadn't even been started!

“Good food, great value, generous portions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2010

Ate here on a Friday night so it was busy. Our waitress was a bit scatty but was friendly and helpful. The food was very good - I lived in Japan so I know what I'm talking about. We both ordered bento's which gave a nice selection of items. The miso soup and sushi were excellent, the only slightly disappointing part of both bento's was some weird spring roll type thing which we left but would have struggled to manage anyway given the very generous portions. The warm sake with plum liqueur was great and there was a good selection of beers and other drinks. The atmosphere was nice with a good mix of people from families to groups of students filling up before a night on the town. We would definitely come back if back in Fort Collins.

“Great Japanese Restaurant”

What a great place. The food was good and reseravations are a requirement on Saturday night if you don't want to wait for a table. They have a bar in the back room and we waited there for our table. The bartender was good and made a nice drink. We had sushi rolls for dinner and the food was excellent. If we lived in Fort Collins this would be our regular place, but since we were on vacation it was a treat for us to find this place. We would certainly come back here as the food and drinks were very good and the service was excellent for us.
