I felt nonplussed when my Travelocity "Top Secret Hotel" gamble landed me at the Warwick. After all, the TripAdvisor "terrible" reviews (19, compared to 95 "excellent" at the time of my booking) warned of ominous, mysterious surcharges, and indifferent service.
Stephen, at the front desk, assured me that the $26 valet parking fee was not "mandatory." I found free parking, and plenty of it, on the street. The pool was not working (heater) but beautiful to look at. I did not see, or look for, a gym.
We were in 412, a small King room. It was quiet.
The room service coffee tasted like Folger's that had sat on the burner too long. I didn't complain about it, but the manager waived the charge anyway because of the pool problem.
Every single staff member I encountered was not only pleasant, but intriguingly cheerful. The valet gave me good tips on jogging, and restaurants. There are fantastic choices for drinking, dining and entertainment within yards of the hotel.
