The Magnolia is a really fun hotel with a hipster decorating scheme. I stayed there for a convention in October of 2011. It's walking distance from the Colorado Convention Center and convenient to most anyplace downtown.
The room itself had very comfortable bedding. I stayed in a Fireplace Suite and really loved how cozy it was to come back to the room and enjoy the gas fireplace and the pretty, modern touches. They also have a daily complimentary cocktail, cookies and milk at night and a big breakfast spread every morning with everything included in the price. I stayed high enough up (second to top floor) so that I didn't have any problem with noise as other reviewers mentioned.
Also used the fitness center, which, while not huge like a Hyatt or other big chain, was more than large enough to accommodate the people who were there at any given time. They had treadmills, ellipticals, a big set of free weights and a few other things. No pool.
Overall, this is a very good value for downtown Denver.
Room Tip: Get a fireplace suite using the online prepurchase "locked in" rate for the best price.
