“The best beach and wonderful accomodations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

We rented one of the Cypress condominiums at Pajaro Dunes for a family vacation. One of the larger ones, with five bedrooms. I was worried because it was a "second row" condo, and I thought that this meant that it was on the other side of the road from the beach. Wrong! It was only set back 20 or so feet further from the beach than the "first row" condos.

We had an excellent stay. The beach is very uncrowded - just a few hundred feet down from the state park, and it was funny that more people didn't move down our way. The state park section was crowded on the weekend, and parking at the park was impossible. We were right next to that, and hardly anyone was there. And we drove past all the crowded parking to get to the condo, where we had all the parking we needed (we had three cars, and no problem finding a place.

The staff was very efficient and courteous. The condo was clean and nicely furnished, even with a big screen tv to watch the soccer games. I can't find any fault OTHER than the spotty receiption for the wifi devices (too bad we had to have some of them...)

“Loved the Dunes!”

I just stayed here for a romantic Valentine's Day weekend and had a really wonderful time. I hadn't heard of the place before but it is in a beautiful and quiet area only about 20 minutes from Monterey and Carmel.
The unit, Pelican 67, was clean and spacious and well equipped. It would be a great place to come with another couple or your family. We sat out on the balcony and watched the waves crash and woke up to a view of the ocean every morning from the master bedroom. It was so relaxing! Our days were mostly spent down the coast but we were able to stop at the store in Watsonville and cook dinner as well which was a great option. The condos seemed full of people but it was very quiet both day and night.
Sitting outside with a glass of wine listening to the waves never gets old! I will be back!

“Beautiful setting and beach escape”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2009

Spent a weekend here. The condos are beautiful, although the second bedroom is small and dark. The master overlooks the ocean with a patio door that allows you to hear the waves. The condos are well furnished and comfortable. Easy to walk down to the beach. Bring a flashlight for night times walks.

A newspaper is delivered daily--a nice touch.

Our meals were catered as this was a conference. The first dinner was positively mediocre but they improved a lot after that.

Don't miss any opportunity to walk on the beach, collect sand dollars, build sandcastles and spot sea lions or dolphins.

“Perfect for our group/Shorebird 37”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2009

Although we wanted the bigger ocean views that the upper floors have, my elderly parents needed to be on the ground floor, but we were not disappointed, you could see the ocean while sitting on the deck, or from the kitchen & living room, and it is literally just steps out to the beach. Spacious, with nice decor, and everything you need for a nice stay, the kitchen was well stocked with plenty of pots & pans, dinnerware, etc. Great place, we will be back!!

“Pelican 63”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2009

We had a great time at Pelican 63. The condo was in good shape and had all we needed for cooking. The view was great and the very short walk to the beach was perfect. The beds were remarkably comfortable! The only negatives I can think of are that it was pretty windy on the beach. We've mostly stayed in Santa Cruz and I've never experienced the wind like this. Had it been sunny it might have been fine, but it was pretty cold so I noticed it a lot. The remote location could be both a plus and a con. I liked that we didn't feel the need to leave the condo/beach. But i also sort of missed the ability to walk to a coffee shop.
