Victorville very obviously had the rug pulled out from under its development plans by the poor economy, so the HGI may be the last of the newer hotels for quite some time. HGI's are one of my favorite brands and this one doesn't disappoint. It is on the opposite side of the freeway from the mall and a slew of chain restaurants, but there are a few places to eat nearby, also. There isn't anything within walking distance except a minature golf course next door. They have a large conference center out front if you need a place to hold an event.

The service at the front desk was very polite and they always greeted us when we walked by. Check-in/out was fast and easy. I was staying on points, but I still received the room type and location noted in my profile, plus free breakfast, so I was a happy camper.

Our room was the usual HGI configuration and nice linens. The beds were as hard as a rock even after adjusting the dial (why do hotels keep pushing these weird adjustable beds that never work???) The bathroom was nice and the shower had great water pressure and a consistent temperature, which I really appreciated. The Neutrogena amenities are nice, too. Everything was spotlessly clean. The air conditioner was noisy, but it worked properly. Free wi-fi and wired internet was very fast and didn't require tedious sign-in or a password.

We were tired and decided to have dinner in the hotel restaurant. The food was OK, nothing special, but very reasonably priced. The entrees were only $8.95, which is really cheap for a hotel restaurant. The service, while very friendly, was extremely slow. It took over 20 minutes to get the dessert I ordered. Apparently the same waitress had to deliver room service also. She was very apologetic, but they need to beef up the staff. Breakfast was a totally different story though. The service was fantastic. The woman who served us was extraodinarily sincere and friendly. The HGI cooked to order breakfast is one of the best I've ever had. The server kept offering us more side dishes than we could think of. The continental buffet is included, as well. It was free for me, but I'd still be happy if I had to pay for it ($9.95).

There is an outdoor pool that looked nice and clean, but we didn't have time to use it. The business center was much smaller than I've seen at other HGI's, but it had everything you'd expect.

I'd stay here again and would recommend it to others.

Having never heard of Victorville before, and only choosing to stay in this town due to its location (between Santa Maria and Las Vegas), I was not sure what to expect. This place was certainly not what I expected. It is a very modern and clean hotel in a town that to me seems to be pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Rooms was nice and clean, modern and well furnished. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. TV was great as I watched the Bathurst 1000 live on Speed. Most other motels we stayed in could not get speed. The only issue we had was some noisy people in the hallway at 2am, but I dont blame the hotel for rude tenants.

We stayed here for one night and it was one of the worst experiences we've had at a hotel. We booked a room online, however upon checking in they told us that the room we had booked was unavailable and were shifted into a smaller, smoking room. Later that night we had a (drunk) couple literally barge into our room - turns out they had been given the same room and key as us. Called the reception to inform them of what had happened and barely got an apology.
Next morning went to reception again to get an explanation - got nothing. The same lady who checked us in told us we were supposed to be in a different room (the one she told us was unavailable). Asked her if the room we had booked had been empty that night - she said yes.
So we spent the night in a smoking room (both avid non-smokers) and in a smaller, one bed room, and to top it all off we had to pay the full rate for the room we were supposed to have and then were overcharged. Never again staying with Hilton Garden Inn.

Would not recommend due to the poor customer service.

This is the hotel for the hiltons....it is a pit stop halfway mark to Vegas and of course stateline this is a 5 star hotel . The breakfast is made as ordered hot and delicious they use the finest food ever.
The accomodations are the best with there down comforters and down pillows and the jacuzzi is inside to use to relax. Our always pit stop before stateline or Vegas a true blue resting spot for the finest stay and food. You will never stay anywhere else!! believe me have been a customer since 2000. Lets not forget the customer service is fantastic they always have my room for early arrival just a Whoo Hoo experience!!!
