“Ouch!”

If you want to get the feeling of sleeping on a mortuary table, go for it! In an otherwise beautiful hotel with a nice view of the train tracks (there are people who like this including me), for some reason management has chosen to torture guests with beds harder than any known substance. We arrived happy and in good shape but left in pain from neck to back. Never again!

“Worst Hotel Stay Ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2009

This was the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel.

Kay Yoo, the manager and owner of the Tehachapi Country Park Hotel, failed completely and utterly to resolve a dispute I had with her staff's failure to perform adequate cleaning services. Rather than fullfill my request for a refund, she proceeded to verbally abuse me to the point where I was forced to call the Tehachapi Police department to calm her down. Kay Yoo claimed I was lying to her about her staff's failure to clean my room and made threatening gestures. She continued to deny my request for a refund and I had to request that the police escort me through her establishment so that I could collect my belongings and leave her premises.

“Nice hotel, but very hard bed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2008

The service at the Country Park is terrific, very helpful, pleasant, and accommodating. And the rooms are nice, fairly spacious, new, nice shower. But the bed is like sleeping on a board. So it's a good choice if you don't mind sleeping on a really hard bed. It wasn't just us; I ran into some folks in the elevator who confirmed that the beds are terrible. The breakfast is fair, the usual free continental stuff.

“Tehachapi is worth a visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2007

We stayed here in October 2007. It is right next to another BW, the Best Western Mountain Inn, but did not check it out. We paid $109 + tax for a very large room with a large shower (although the shower head was a big low for my 6'2"). A very good breakfast is included -- grape juice, orange juice, three cereals, plus the great cook-'em-fresh-yourself waffles we enjoyed at all the BW's at which we stayed. There is an outdoor pool, which is warmer than the air, but not inviting , so I just went in the hot tub. Maybe the one next door is heated more.

We have enjoyed staying here. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the view out the front was scenic. We also had free web access. The staff is attentive and friendly. Its my pick for a stop from northern CA on the way out to the deserts in Joshua Tree.
