We took advantage of the FREE admission for adults and kids on the first Wednesday of the month on March 03, 2011 and what a treat it was for our 3-year-old.
We showed up around 9:00 am, which is opening time, and we were the fourth car in the parking lot. Parking is free and is located right in front of the museum.
They have 5 separate buildings/rooms with different themes geared at stimulating the imagination. Though, an involved parent was necessary to guide our 3-year-old with the various activities and play games.
They have a 2-acre look out cove, which is an outdoor, play area and they have a picnic area with tables, so bring a packed lunch to enjoy.
The cafe had limited choices and was a bit pricey.
A good 3-4 hours is needed to really take advantage of all the activities so plan accordingly.
Overall, well worth the trip out over the Golden Gate Bridge and we may just bring our 3-year-old out every FREE Wednesday of the month.
Oh, and by the way, on the way back to San Francisco, whilst crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, make sure you have $6 in cash for the toll or else you will be fined. We were lucky to find $6 in change or else we would have defeated the FREE admission to the museum.
