We stayed here for a quick (one-night) getaway to Santa Monica. Picked the hotel kind of randomly – not too familiar with the area – and ended up loving it. It’s much nicer inside than I expected it to be: The lobby area feels more Hilton than Doubletree and the pool area (on the third floor – kind of a rooftop pool) is very nice. Our suite was very spacious – we didn’t really need the extra space, only being there one night, but I can see how it would be very nice for a longer stay. Very comfy bed, and the temperature control worked perfectly – plus the windows opened a few inches, which was great for fresh air. Best of all, the service was excellent. Everyone we came across – valet, bellman, front desk, housekeeping – made a point to say hello and seemed genuinely friendly.
It’s a 10-15 minute walk to the 3rd Street Promenade, a little less to the new Place at Santa Monica mall, another 5 minutes or so to get to the beach. The hotel is right next to the 10 freeway, but it didn’t feel that way, even when we were out walking.
Would definitely stay here again!
Despite what others have said, it is an EASY and safe walk to promanade shops and pier. Lots of restaurant choices within walking distance. Parking garage directly across the street from hotel for $9.00/day. Breakfast buffet offered a nice selection, but a little to pricey. Suite had a small refridgerator, but would have liked a microwave in room. Otherwise, a nice hotel and very friendly staff.
My Mom and I stayed there while my dad was at UCLA Santa Monica Hospital for surgery. We had lots of unforseen issues and the staff was there with wheel chairs, extending our stay, being compassionate about the situation, and helping (everyone) to make our stay as best as it could be given the circumstances.
Very clean well appointed suites. Easy walk to the pier, shops and market. Staff are friendly and helpful. Well worth the money.
