“Great experience for the price!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I stayed at the Sea Shore Feb, 2012. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the door to the room. Was afraid it would be like the Motel 6 I once stayed at, because the price of $130, tax included, was low for Santa Monica, CA. However, I was pleasantly surprised :) The room, as mentioned by others on this forum, was very clean. Even tho it was older, it was in good condition, nicely cared for. The bedding and bathroom were very clean. I loved the comfy recliner that I could put my feet up and relax on, after hiking all over the beach-did I mention it was clean and I didn't mind laying my head back to relax? The staff were real friendly and welcoming, the beach a short walk away, and the SM Pier about 25 min. walk. In fact, I never drove my car once I checked in. The bed was a bit too firm for me, but if you like a firm mattress, you will like it better than I did. In the morning I got coffee and a pastry at the bistro, in the same building, named Amelias (or something similar). Yummy-highly recommend it. Plus the people running it were fabulous. Had dinner at Bubbas Shrimp House on the wharf-and really enjoyed that too. I will definitely return and stay at Sea Shore.

Room Tip: I was on the ground level, near the office and stairs, so I heard vehicles coming and going, as well...

“Decent motel in a prime spot of Santa Monica”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We arrived here after a three night stay in Anaheim at the Grand Californian, so maybe the bar was set pretty high to start with. The first thing I can say is that we checked in earlier than expected and they were gracious and had a room ready. Ken ( I think was his name) pulled out a map and gave us all the highlights to see in the area. He was awesome. Very enthusiastic and super helpful. We got our key and went to our room. We were pleasantly surprised that the King was an actual king and the room was a decent size. I didn't like that I could hear what I am pretty sure was a crackhead outside cursing on the top of her lungs sitting on the steps of the motel. The motel was in between Venice and Santa Monica beach and we were able to walk to both, albeit very tiring walks. There are some great shops and mom and pop restaurants on Main Street. We found a great crepe place a few doors down with great coffee. My first night I did not sleep at all. It was a Saturday night and the hotel and streets were very loud. The walls being so thin made it difficult to sleep. The second night it was quiet but the people above us had their TV so loud we could hear it. So again, I had trouble falling asleep but once I did, I stayed asleep. There is a nice lot in the back to park. The bed was comfy though we did not notice food on our comforter which was not from us. The bathroom was a nice size and the floors were also nice. In general I really liked the hotel. Aside from the food it was clean and the staff was friendly. I just wish the walls were not so thin because I left really tired. We were right in the front, so a room in the back may have been better. We will be back though I am sure.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back.

“Character, Service and Convenience on Main St,Santa Monica”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We loved the Sea Shore Motel - while it was retro, it was also very well maintained and could not have been cleaner. Or room had a real villa feel, with big terracotta-coloured tiles and big windows. We stayed on the second floor and were really well placed to catch the ocean breeze. The motel was well placed - the eclectic little stores on main street and the beach were a hop skip and a jump away and the Santa Monica Pier was about half an hour walk away. The local busses stopped pretty much outside the motel and were easy to jump on and off. The staff at the Sea Shore went out of their way to help us - from arranging tours to pointing out local haunts - especially Tom at the front desk. The cafe in front of the Sea Shore had scrumptious breakfast items and stellar service as well. The Sea Shore is a brilliant find for travellers who want to experience character instead of the same-old-same-old blandness of some chain motels.

“Perfect for our family”

We were extremely pleased with our stay at the Sea Shore Motel. It was in a great location for a nice walk to the beach for relaxing, biking, and rollerblading. We stayed in apartment #40 and it had a full kitchen, comfortable L-shaped couch, private balcony, bathtub, table for 6, and clean and cool tile floors. Thank you for the great accomodations.
