We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with 2 of our grandchildren. A little getaway before they start school. We travel quite a bit and we knew that staying at a Holiday Inn Express would give us simple no frills accommodations. The room was very plain, but sufficient for our stay. Beds were comfortable and I did like the 2 pillow choice they provide for each guest. . .soft and medium. The girls used the pool...the pool and pool area were nicely maintained.
We went down for breakfast on our first morning and although there is a good variety of choices to please just about any palate, we found their pancake machine to be extremely slow, putting out one pancake a minute. When you have a line of people waiting, that just doesn't seem to be feasible. The pancake machine was out of batter and I had to go find someone to refill it, but then decided the wait was not worth it. The eggs were not good at all, in fact my 2 granddaughters who are not picky eaters decided they did not like them. There was some black stuff in there that resembled a burnt pan and so they were squeamish to begin with. They had cereal and sweet rolls as well as sausage, bread for toast and bagels. We chose to dine elsewhere the following morning.
Overall its a decent hotel, close to the freeway but very quiet. Just a 2 minute drive into central San Luis Obispo.
