A hostess with humor, respectful, but will entertain if you ask questions about the endless antiques. From wedding dresses, hats and purses on the doors to furniture, art, photos, collectible dolls, silver, crystal, china, toiletry sets, you name it. I appreciate the older generation's knowledge and wisdom, and loved every minute of visiting with this charming lady. Ask her about the 'tacky party' she holds once a year, and her first washing machine. I'm still chuckling. She only accepts one guest at a time, about all she can handle, but treats you so hospitably. Breakfast isn't California gourmet, but unique and down-home tasty, with a Norwegian delicacy I can't spell, or special needs met if you request it.
Be ready for an overload of things to look at, and while surfaces that count are very clean, you may have to tolerate a little dust, due to so many surfaces. Another story with fabulous one-liners.
When inquiring with a local storekeeper about where to go for dinner, he said, "Redding...it's only about 30 miles!" Mary will recommend a few places in town, Mexican is what we chose, and were very happy with it.
A great experience, one I will repeat on my next I-5 trip through California.
