We ended up here because it seemed like the least dubious of the budget places in town. We should have kept going to Placerville. This is an older property, taken over by the Knight's Inn chain. It was awful in every way.
The room was far grimier than something that looked recently remodeled should be. The bed was only marginally clean. Someone had obviously trashed the place, and none of the damage had been fixed. There were holes in the drywall. It had been really hot all day, and the a/c was not running. This motel has no units in the room, just a vent which a sign in the lobby claims is centrally controlled and always on. The room was miserably hot, but the area looked scuzzy enough that we only dared crack the window in our first floor room.
We had to park our car next to a stack of filthy old mattresses against the fence. The motel is near an intersection, and the cross street goes over the Sacramento light rail line. The crossing rang every 10 minutes or so, very late into the night. The motel in general had a very creepy atmosphere. It was once a huge property, but they've abandoned most of it and have put up fences in the parking lot blocking off the back 2/3 of the building.
The pool was functioning, and they only charged us $29, but that does not make up for one of the worst nights I've ever spent in a motel.
