“WOW, What a view & spotting whale spouts from our balcony!”

We just returned from our first visit to Point Arena and the Wharf Master's Inn. We were so impressed when we were shown to our room in the Lookout Building and he included bottles of wine and saw the details in the room such as tea lights at the spa jacuzzi tub and the view from the balcony. The gas fireplace and the decor were perfect. Never seen a more beautiful room and decor. While there we ate at The Pier Chowder House Cafe a walk down the driveway at the wharf and it was a great and convenient seafood restaurant. The Lighthouse just up the hwy was an incredible place for viewing from the top of the lighthouse and whale watching. We saw whales spy hopping and breaching and several spouting. It was an incredible weekend!

“Most comfortable bed I have ever slept in!”

This place has the nicest beds! I have to say the location is also one of the most beautiful. Right on the ocean... We needed a late check-out, and they accommodated us. They even left the breakfast out for us until we all awoke. Excellent staff, very nice with special requests.

“great views and ocean sounds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

Nice setting, good service, staff helpful, rooms spacious, decks beautiful vistas. However our sink did not drain and one of the two chairs on the deck were broken and it would have been useful to get a fire log after 10pm

“Great Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

We arrived at Point Arena as a family of 4, having booked the Victorian Suite. The deck looking to the ocean was lovely, but the room was awful. Dark, moldy, and not updated at all. I looked over these issues, figuring the rest of the property was the same way. Then my sister and mother in law arrived, and I got to see their rooms. They were light, bright, clean, very welcoming and renovated.

I nicely asked about changing rooms. They said that for the first night, no problem, but for the second night they were booked. As it were for the second night we were able to change as well.

So I think the staff was very accommodating, but as a suggestion The Victorian Suite needs a complete over haul. Don't stay in it.

Room Tip: See the above note. Room cleanliness for Victorian Suite, awful. Other rooms good.

“Very impressed with this Inn”

My wife & I (over 55) can't say enough about this Inn. We had a room with a balcony & an ocean view. We stayed one night on a trip down the Oregon & California coasts. The rate was reasonable. The room was very nicely decorated. The location is on a hillside over looking a marina and the ocean. The person at reception (Barbara I believe her name is) was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The breakfast was as good as any hotel we have stayed in.There is a restaurant nearby as well as a pizza place. We simply enjoyed the location overlooking the ocean. We would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: I would select a room over looking the ocean & marina.
