I have driven by this place and even stopped in to check prices on previous trips to Mt. Shasta City, but after they lowered their room prices about $50 from where they were a year ago, I decided to give it a try on a January (2012) weekend night. I paid about $70 for a small, adequate room. I liked the plain, wooded decor, and found the bed quite adequate for sleeping. The place has the look of an old school backwoods lodge, which I suppose it might have been at one point. The rooms are cold, but my heater warmed the room up to an acceptable level pretty quickly. My only complaint is that I had no wi-fi signal at all in the room, and the front desk person had assured me they had wi-fi. And I was surprised that there was a little bit of paper trash in one of the waste paper baskets. However, neither of these negatives would keep me from coming back here.
They have opened a small bar and restaurant (they call it a "gastro-pub", or something like that) in the main building behind the lobby, which is convenient. They have their own sushi chef also, so I tried the California roll as an appetizer, and enjoyed it. The two servers I had were very nice and attentive, and I was happy with the cheeseburger I ordered. The entrees looked good as well. A note about breakfasts: they are no longer including continental breakfast with the room rate, but you can buy breakfast at the hotel's restaurant.
