“Pretty Disappointed”

After I had already booked my family stay here, I checked out more reviews... Most of the negative results were pretty accurate. Carpets needed cleaning by the blackness on our socks. Sheets didn't fit the mattress so they kept slipping off the corners during the night, allowing my skin to touch it... With the reviews of bed bugs.... I was not liking that. Light bulb out in bathroom. Decent water pressure though. Patches where holes had been covered on the walls. Blackout curtains didn't fit the entire window so out side light came through on the side
.
Breakfast was pretty sad. Small front office was where things were served and there was no room for more than 4-5 people at one time. Guests had to keep ringing bell for someone to refill milk, waffle batter, OJ, butter, toast, etc. Lots of bell ringing. Making your own waffles may be neat at home, but not when there's people waiting behind you. Little messy too. We didn't bother the second morning for that experience.
Pool looked a little scary so didn't want to chance it with the kids.
No view of the bay whatsoever. Not even of Morro Rock, unless you had second floor and maybe you could see the top of it.
But the worst thing for me... No air conditioning!! What CA hotel doesn't have AC? And it was pretty warm this past weekend... Warmer in the room, but you would have to leave your windows and curtains open to get cool air in... I'm not that trusting to leave windows wide open on lower floor hotels.
Had a fridge, micro, blow dryer, tv. Would not recommend.

“This place is a nightmare!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2011

This was the most horrible place we have encountered on our trip. We booked online, at a rate of $129 per night, but it seemed acceptible for the amenities offered and judging by pictures posted by the owner. Once we got into the room, we were a bit put off by the bare bones, broken down room with no coffee pot for the in room coffee as advertised. There were no towels, and when we went to get these items from the office, the staff reluctantly gave us two towels. They said they don't have coffee pots... Which is odd seeing how they had coffee and filters in the room, just nothing to brew it in. Next, the "heated" pool was freezing! It was filthy, and there were no lights even though it was open until 9pm. Next, on our second day there, we told them we were unhappy Next, the building is so rickety, the people above our room were able to keep us up until 4:30 am and my nine year old unfortunatley heard things he should not have. We stayed for two nights and they didnt even refresh our towels or straighten up the room, and when we asked them to, the lady acted like she didn't know what to do. We had to tell the trash was full, and ended up making up the bed ourselves and washing the towels ourselves in the guest laundrey, which by the way was not free! Next, we asked for a different room because of the people above us. The lady at the office said there were no other rooms available. Later that evening we were at the pool which is right by the office, and saw her shout out the window to what looked like her friend, that she still had vacancies, and proceeded to book out several more rooms. We were lied to. Lastly, upon checkout, we saw that the receipt was for $171 plus tax for each night! We mentioned it immediatly, and the lady at the desk suddenly started acting like she didn't understand english! This motel was a real scum bucket. Overpriced. Rude. Filthy. We deserve an apology and our $ back! Don't stay here, it's truly like a nightmare!

“BED BUGS, NO HOT WATER, HEADBOARDS FALLING OFF”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 June 2011

We rented 4 rooms.....this is what happened.

When we complained to the front desk, he could not get a hold of the manager because he would not answer his phone. We were told the whole hotel was out of hot water and that it had been fixed. 2 hours later we STILL had no hot water. But that's not even the worst of it.......

Room 1: BED BUGS!!! Ewwwww!! Headboard fell off wall, water in sink would not shut off, lights in bathroom did not work.

Room 2: headboard fell off and ripped out of wall, stains and holes in sheets and blankets, beds uncomfortable, no cold water night one, next morning.....no hot water. Breakfast was aweful.

“I'm sorry to have chosen this motel.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2010

After having just returned home from an overnight stay in Morro Bay the experience is still fresh in my mind. I've just reread some of the other critiques and many of the comments are right on point. The surface and edges of the stairs are crumbllng concrete over the original wooden treads and wire mesh is exposed. I suppose the stairs have been damaged by luggage being dragged up and down but it baffles me why such a surface was selected and even more amazed that the stairs have not been repaired. It really contributes to the seediness of the property as well as exposing the management to possible injury claims.

The room we were originally assigned to was not good. It smelled bad, was dreary, and very noisy because of street traffic. Don't ask for a King on the upper floor. All the Kings are in one area of the motel. Two are on the second floor, both facing a heavy traffic intersection --- the rest on ground level around the corner. I generally shy away from ground floor rooms because of overhead noise coming from overhead. This turned out to be the case after moving to a ground floor room. The young lady at the desk was very accommodating when I complained about the shortcomings of our our original room and there was no problem with changing rooms. Actually, she was the only redeeming feature of the motel.

The room to which we were re-assigned on the ground level seemed to be OK. It was clean, everything in working condition, and quiet --- for a while. Apparently there was a family with a couple small children overhead. There were a few strange noises shortly after checking in, then later in the evening, and finally --- starting from the early waking hours (6 a.m.) continuous noise radiated through the ceiling. Footsteps, squeaking noises, a thump now and then... At first I thought the noises were caused by structural deficiencies (especially the squeaks) -- I'm now thinking they were the result of child-related equipment, toys, etc. We were happy that we were checking out.

On the nit-picking side: the rooms are sparsely outfitted. No kleenex, meager towels in the bathroom (small, thin, and scratchy): two washcloths, two hand towels and two very small bath towels. I realize that the motel is low priced but other low priced chains offer a few additional amenities. The breakfast is minimal. The breakfast room itself is part of the small reception area. I was hoping for a better cup of coffee than that provided in the room --- no luck.

If we ever have reason to stay over in Morro Bay again, it will be somewhere else.

“Only if your desperate”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

All i can say about this motel is location is great. Other than that it's the pits. The room looks like it's from 1980. It was so depressing looking. The beds were hard as rocks, chairs stained, I didn't even want to use the cover on the bed. If your desperate and need a place to stay ok, other than that DO NOT stay here. They say continental breakfast included, that is a joke.
