“Thrifty, but surprisingly nice”

If I had listened to most of the reviews, we would not have stayed here. But we were needing economical accommodations, and this motel is located close to the hospital we were using. So we took our chances, and we were pleasantly surprised. In fact, we are returning here on our next check-up visit. Our room was spacious and clean, and they are building a new breakfast area. Just as important as cleanliness is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. All those we had contact with were great. Two who come to mind are Michael and Veronica. If you do stay here, ask for directions to Mexicali Grill. I'm from El Paso and I know good Mexican food. This is the best! Good Luck.

“Stay Away!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2010

1st: this place is a dump. it's in a dirty nasty parking lot.
2nd: I was supposed to stay 3 days for business, I paid in cash and my trip was canceled 3 hours after I checked in. they would NOT give me $$$ back for day 2 and 3.
3rd: this is a foreignor owned property and they speak lovely english UNTIL you need something, then they suddenly don't understand english or they play the old you must speak with the Manager who isn't ever availible OR the computer is down.

“lame all around”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2010

I'm so sick of Days and other mid-range motels trying to pass themselves off as decent. This place is a dump....there's no way around it. It looks like furniture and carpets may have been replaced a few years ago, but they were quickly trashed by their ghetto clientele. Check in took ages, with all sorts of extras steps, like signing letters promising I wouldn't trash the place. After plunking down a $150 non-smoking deposit, I finally got to my room which reeked of cigarettes. Disgusting. Carpet was questionable; stains on walls, bedding, etc. Nice furniture, but some of it looked like it had been through combat. The neighborhood isn't the worst, but it isn't nice either. What are these people thinking, trying to charge $79? During the summer, I guess there are just enough tourists to let them get away with it. As I was checking in, two huge busloads of French tourists were checking in. Ils sont un peu jobard, no? C'est la vie.

A few positives: comfortable bed, large room, huge pool. Good place for summer visit. By-pass the so-called breakfast and go to Jo Jo's just a few blocks south.

“Mixed feeling about this place”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2010

Our room was roomy and looked clean and over all nice for an economy motel, but first thing I noticed is that both beds dipped down in the middle. We had a room with two double beds on the second floor. One of the reasons we picked this place for an overnight stay was that they had a nice looking pool with a hot tub. The hot tub was roped off with yellow tape and was dirty so I am guessing it was out of order so we settled for the pool. There was a total of only 2 lounge chairs for the whole pool and a small group of people had taken them with all the other chairs except two. The refrigerator in our room did not work. we made sure it was plugged in and turned on but after checking it a couple hours later, still warm. The air condition system had a bad rattle every time it kicked on so I ended up using ear plugs to sleep that night. Well, for what little sleep I got, we got into one bed and could not keep from rolling into the center of the broken down mattress so I finally asked my boyfriend to sleep in the other bed because I could not get into a position that did not cause my back to start hurting with us both in one bed. Needless to say it was not a good night's sleep. If we had been staying more than one night I would have insisted on getting another room.

“Worth it”

Even though my initial reservations were lost (I'm not sure if I used the Days Inn website or a third party site) the hotel accomodated us nicely. Nice, big, clean room. I mean, this isn't the Ritz, nor were we paying Ritz prices, so generally I'm just happy with clean, and it was. The property itself is well kept. The remote for the TV didn't work very well, nor did the coffee maker, but, again, not a Ritz. It was fine if you're just looking for a clean bed to sleep in.
