“Great Stop Over”

We stayed one night here on our way to Yosemite in Oct. '11 coming from San Fancisco. It was close to the south end entrance of Yosemite and Mariposa Grove redwoods, but we couldn't make it into the park and our lodging the same evening. We were the last guests to arrive, the clerk was polite, the room was just fine (dining options at 11 pm or so are pretty limited though). Free breakfast in the morning was great and got us on our way on a full stomach. Everybody was polite and it was easy access to the park. If we were travelling the same route we would stay again. I noted that despite it being mid-late October they kept their pool open and maintained (it was unseasonably warm) and while we didn't get in, some guests with kids did. Most places in my experience shut down their pools on a specific date, like Labor Day, not to be reopened until summer--thought it was nice to keep it open.

If you're on your way to Yosemite and need a night to sleep over I recommend it.

“May be a reflection of the poor economy”

We have stayed here many times before. Usually a good experience. First clue of challenges this motel faced was the long check in and Three stooges routine required to get a room. Plus we got to hear the drama of one of the clerks accusing the maintenance/cleaning person of damaging her car. Our rooms had a nice view of the brick wall of the recently built shopping center. Room was clean but shop worn. After dinner and socializing at another room, returned to find sink faucet would not turn off all the way. Opted not to call front desk since I did not want to relocate to another room nor spend more time being "entertained" by the staff as displayed at check-in. Fortunately, the faucet had a steady stream rather then a drip and one could imagine restful thoughts of sleeping by a stream. Hmm... wonder if that also made one have to have a late night visit the bathroom? Disappointed with this visit to the Miners Inn.

Room Tip: Rooms at the south building have been fine, especially on the south side. Open and more private. T...

“Just another struggling motel”

If it wasn't for the huge influx of Western European visitors to Yosemite National Park, the whole area would be in BIG trouble - especially the motels.

We stayed a couple of separate times recently at he Miners Inn in Mariposa. Soon our vacation home will e done so we won't be staying at motels in the area any longer, but for now we have again switched - searching for a motel in the area that is clean, provides outstanding customer service & has decent Internet speed.

The Miners Inn fails miserably on Internet speed. Lack of a thorough cleaning on in-between day (we stayed for 2 nights) was another reason we will not stay there again. Also, their buffet breakfast ends early, so we missed on that.

When I complained about the Internet, all I got was excuses. I operate an Internet business, including when we are out of town.

We had an empty box of facial tissue, so my wife left it on the bed. The housekeeper added some tissue to the empty box, ripping the box. We felt that was cheap and displayed to us a bad attitude. We hardly use their tissue anyway.....we bring our own tp & tissue when out of town unless we are staying in a Hilton of something (which is rare -we are not wealthy).

The fireplace hearth (we upgraded to the deluxe room) was dirty and dusty. Staff was fairly friendly - no complaints there.

We are going to try another motel next week. We like Mariposa better than Oahurst, as it is more like a gold country town and is much smaller. Be sure to eat at th
E Sugar Pine Cafe if you are in Mariposa & stop by Pony Expresso for coffee.

Room Tip: Off-season, pay the extra $20 per night for the deluxe room, especially if you are traveling for ple...

“Nice place near Yosemite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We stayed here for a night. We went on a kind-of unplanned trip to Yosemite and couldn't get any accommodation in or right outside the Yosemite area. We chose the Miners Inn as the next best thing, and I'm glad we did. It's about 30 minutes away from the entrance to Yosemite. The rooms were very spacious and had a TV, a working fireplace and a refrigerator. The bathroom had a whirlpool bathtub! They served a modest breakfast buffet with a number of cereals, milk, eggs, toasted bread, fruits and fresh make-your-own waffles. I'd recommend this place to anyone who's ok staying a little distance from the Yosemite park's entrance.

“Never stay here!”

The room was so unclean and unusable. The shower barely fitted my left leg let along a whole body! The room was very small and the air con didn't work properly. The lady at reception was most unhelpful. I wouldn't stay here even if I had to.
