Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in early January. After reading reviews on TA was aware of what to expect of the hotel. It was as it had been reported, a little dated but very clean and well kept. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen which was much appreciated after staying in hotels. The apartment had a sofa bed and we requested a rollaway as we had 2 children with us. The bed in the main bedroom was very comfortable, however the sofa bed and roll away were very uncomfortable. I would suggest trying to book a two bedroom apartment to avoid this. The price of $465 including tax for 3 nights was very good considering there were four of us and it included breakfast.
The breakfast was very good with choice of cereals, fresh fruit, bagels to toast, croissants, coffee, tea, juice etc and as much you wanted. There was always a very helpful staff member there to assist and even toast your bagel for you.
All members of the staff were friendly and helpful, booking taxis, giving directions etc.
The location was excellent right near Hollywood Blvd with the Hollywood and Highland Centre with shops and places to eat, Kodak Theatre and Metro a few steps away. Grauman's Chinese Theatre was a short walk up the street. On the day we visited Universal Studios it was good having the Metro so close and it was only one stop to get there. The cost was $1.50 each way.
The only small complaint was that being on the ground floor we could hear some noise from upstairs on one of the afternoons when a child was running around but did not disturb us at night. I would ask for an upstairs unit to avoid this.
If you are looking for somewhere to stay that is close to attractions, clean and reasonably priced I would recommend the Orchid Suites Hotel.
