We checked into the hotel at 7:00 p.m., only to find the police trying to break up a party of 30 teenagers packed into one room. They scattered but returned after the police left, since the door to the hotel (usually a security entrance) was broken and anyone could come in at any time. After two hours of watching the police return and the teens running like hell, we decided to leave and go to a more secure hotel, since the night clerk was clueless about what to do with the situation. The desk clerk was rude, denied my refund, and then said "so long, slim" as I was walking away (no doubt a sarcastic reference to my weight). We left and went to another hotel and finally got to bed around 12:30 am. After contacting Days Inn corporate offices, the hotel owner/manager sent an e-mail saying "sorry, but no refund". After four phone calls to their corporate number, the company finally relented and agreed to send me half of the night's charge, and said that the hotel owner would refund the other half on my credit card. We'll see if it actually happens, but in the meantime, Days Inn corporate doesn't seem too concerned about the breach of security of the building, nor the rude behaviour of staff and they did not step up to the plate to require the owner to make good on the hellish night we had. I'll never stay at this Days Inn in Lathrop, and I'll have to give it a lot of thought before booking with Days Inn again ever.
