“They're trying, but haven't quite made it.”

You are greeted with a survey piece that says "we have spent the last three years renovating the property and rooms..." We stayed in the Driftwood rooms - basically clean, but for the price, they really need help, and I don't think the renovations have quite made it to the Driftwood rooms. These rooms must be made of cardboard - you can hear everything! There is no air conditioning - so you might say, "open the windows" - well they're rght on the gravel parking lot and at hip height and are on the main walkway to the beach. And for the sound, there may as well not even be windows. The restaurant is closed, and they give you a 10% discount at a sister-property in Olema, which is about 5 miles away and really over-priced. Our lunch "special" with one beer, including tip and tax (and discount!) was $39! We're rating this "average" because the staff is friendly and helpful; the newer more expensive rooms do look quite nice, but we can't comment on the noise level; and if you're here to boat, fish or swim, you'll likely enjoy it. But we would never stay in the Driftwood rooms again. We had much nicer accomodations up the coast for the same price.

Room Tip: Don't stay in the Driftwood rooms.

Wow,
Demise from the reservations department at the Tomales Bay Resort is awesome. Happy, courteous, and a true professional.
She provided me with great advice and fixed a reservations mistake.

“Nice place to stay - good value off season”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2010

We arrived just after the season so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. On check in we were given a bag breakfast for the next morning - muffin, fruit, juice - nice touch. Room was clean and adequate - had view of the bay.

Because it was off season dinner choices were limited so plan ahead

“over-priced and non-negotiable”

Charged $170/night mid week, off season, and when found a more accommodating alternative, were refused a refund. Room for 2 adults had no fireplace, no bath tub, no couch or living room, no kitchen, and the facility provided no hot tub. Web site indicated a Thai restaurant and even offed a complimentary glass of wine at said restaurant, but upon checking in, the restaurant had closed down, and we were offed to drive several miles offsite for the complimentary wine.

“excellant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2010

We traveled to Tomales Bay Resort for a 4 day vacation. The Staff were very friendly, accomadating. and knowledgable of the surrounding territory. Our room was next to the Bay where we saw wonderful sunrise and sets from the pier. Close to all hiking area's within the Point Reyes National Park.
Room was basic but clean. The T.V. was old and the reception was sometimes fuzzy. This area of the hotel has not been remodeled.
We would definately stay here on our next trip to the Park.
