“Imperial Beach -- would stay here again!”

My family and I (mom, dad, 2 kids, and nanny) stayed in a 3 BR unit for the Presidents' Week holiday. The unit was spectacular -- we could have tossed a ball into the ocean from our balcony and it was a short walk to the scenic Imperial Beach pier. The location was also quite good -- it was only about 20 minutes to most of what San Diego has to offer, with the exception of the Wild Animal Park and Legoland, which are north of the city and took about 45 min - 1 hour to get to.

About Imperial Beach, there have been some comments regarding its "seediness". Here's my view: I think the area is up-and-coming, but it's certainly not La Jolla or Coronado. Then again, you're not paying for that at these prices (we got a 3 BR condo for $1200/week). Along the beach it is quite nice; as you go further from the beach there were a decent share of liquor stores and check-cashing outlets. One night there were some loud "partiers" on the beach near our unit. But overall, I felt very comfortable there with my family. The Beach Club itself was full of families.

And yes, the beach was polluted; recent heavy rains shut down all of the beaches from the Mexican border north to Coronado. It wasn't beach weather anyway so this didn't bother us; I don't know if this is always the case or not.

To wrap it up -- we would definitely go back! The Imperial Beach club offers location, value, space for a family, and amazing ocean views. It depends on what you're looking for.

“Will never stay in a hotel again!”

We stayed in the beach club for a week in October and couldn't have been happier! The condo was amazing, the views were spectacular and as a family of 5 including a toddler, we couldn't have been more comfortable! We had coffee on the balcony over looking the ocean every morning and cocktails on the balcony every evening. It was very clean, safe & well maintained! The washer and dryer as well as the full kitchen made this the perfect vacation and we will stay here again! The beach was quiet and we felt safe walking it at night. This was by far the best way to take a family vacation!! Highly recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Perfect San Diego Vacation”

We stayed at the Imperial Beach Club with a large family with young kids and grandparents. The condo was amazing. Very upscale with gorgeous views and tons of amenities. Complex was very well maintained and safe and had pool and hot tub. The neighborhood is great. Quiet beach, a park, and 2 good restaurants within walking distance. Local market was excellent for groceries. All attractions were within 20 - 25 minutes. We have stayed in Mission Beach, will never stay there again. We have rented homes in Lake Tahoe, Jackson Hole, and Hawaii, and this was the nicest one we've ever stayed in.

“Great Condo...Great Ocean View....Great Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2003

We stayed at the Imperial Beach Club in Unit #312. It was a great vacation! The 2bd condo had a great oceanfront view and the building is really nice. There was a swimming pool and spa too. We especially liked the fact the condo had a fully equiped kitchen. It saved tons of money eating in rather than in resturants every nite. And a resturant would not have had as nice a view. We ate most of our meals in the condo looking out the floor to ceiling windows at the ocean. It couldnt have been nicer. There was a good cafe also on the ground floor of the beach club that served a nice variety of food. We used to stay in mission beach and pacific beach...but will now vacation in Imperial Beach in the future. Beaches are a lot less crowded. Also it had a nice family atmosphere.
