The Pacific Victorian Bed and Breakfast is a great getaway place to stay and decompress for a night, a weekend or several days. Altho’ only about 30 mi. south of San Francisco, the Inn’s location at Miramar Beach seems much more distant from the demands and stresses of the City. It is newer construction built to resemble a Victorian mansion and the furnishings throughout the Inn are in keeping with the Victorian style with floral wallpaper, dark wood furniture, pedestal sinks, beautifully detailed curtains, and architectural embellishments that reflect the early 1900’s period.

The Inn has but 4 rooms, all on the upper floor. We stayed in the Bay Room which reflects its large bay window rather than its view--altho’ we did have a peek of the ocean (a couple blocks distant) from our small balcony. Even tho’ all 4 rooms were booked the Sat. night of our stay, we heard virtually no sounds of other guests, it was that quiet. In fact, the most resonating sound was the foghorn in the distance, and that wasn’t obtrusive. The comfortable queen bed took up much of the floor space in our room and there was just enough walking space between the closet and the bed. But due to the room’s brightness courtesy of the bay window, the room didn’t feel cramped. There was a TV, DVD player and phone in the room. The bath was a fair size and my husband enjoyed the deep, powerfully-jetted whirlpool bathtub which even had a small foam pillow--quite relaxing, he said!

The innkeepers/owners, Jeff and Lori, were very cordial and helpful. We were able to arrange for an early check-in as we were attending an afternoon wedding the same day we arrived. The ample breakfast our hosts prepared was delicious, and Jeff said that an upcoming recipe book featuring B&B Inns would be including one of their specialties, the Eggs Benedict. I had that dish and it was great! They provide a menu the night before and guests are able to select from a number of breakfast items--a very nice touch.

There is a small parking area behind the Inn and it was convenient to have this offstreet parking, altho’ the (almost rural-like) road was extremely quiet since it’s not a through street.

Lunch or dinner at the nearby Miramar Beach Restaurant (which used to be a Speakeasy during Prohibition) is highly recommended. Good food, great views and interesting old photos adorn the bar area. The restaurant is right on the water. If you’re seeking a nice, relaxing walk there’s the 5 mi. Coastal Trail that goes along the ocean bluffs from Pillar Point Harbor so. to Half Moon Bay. There’s also a scenic walk beginning at Pillar Point Marsh’s parking lot off West Point Ave. You’ll see numerous seabirds, sea lions, and canine as well as human walkers taking to the sandy beach past the breakwater. The jagged offshore rocks and very steep cliffs make the area particularly picturesque. Whether you choose to do a lot or very little during your stay, the Pacific Victorian is a great base.
