“Spectacular In All Ways”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed in the Golden Voyager unit with full kitchen. Breathtaking views, unit was very clean, bed was very comfy. Peace and tranquility with no phones, radio or TV. Staff was very friendly and accommodated a late check out request. It was delightful to have breakfast delivered and the food was good. The Saturday wine/cheese reception was nice and we got to meet and chat with the other guests. If you can't negotiate the 139 steps to the sandy beach, just wander down South (or drive) a wee bit to the Anchor Bay Campground for easy access to the beach. What a romantic way to bring in 2012! Guests have use of the Whale Watch Room, which has a full fridge, microwave and glasses. Our gratitude to the owners and staff of the Whale Watch Inn, we intend to go back every year, if not several times a year, it was that awesome.

Room Tip: View the web site or contact the Inn to learn more about views from all rooms. The units with full...

“Where the otters play”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

My wife spent three days in the Bath Suite at this inn. We loved the high ceilings, loft jacuzzi, great view, and amazing breakfast. We were lucky enough to watch a large group of otters playing in the water. We were fascinated by how fast they could jump through the water.

The staff is very friendly, and helped out in a number of ways. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

“A great way to have a family reunion or wedding.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

When our daughter decided to get married at our small vacation cabin in Anchor Bay CA we searched reception locations all around the area. We were having a sit down dinner for 60.
We ended up renting the whole Whale Watch Inn for the weekend. It was much more cost effective than housing our out-of-town guests all over town, finding a reception venue, tables, chairs, china, linens etc. I was planning the wedding from Southern CA but no wedding planner was required. It's a small town all the service providers know each other and work together well.
The owner's of the Whale Watch coordinated everything for us from the cake, Franny's Cup and Saucer, best wedding cake ever, Mick Paul the photographer, Jean the cater and Rhonda flowers.
We had a wonderful sit down prime rib meal. We were able to keep the leftovers to nibble on in the common room by the fireplace all evening. Everybody was served breakfast in their rooms both mornings.
We were treated so well. They took great care in making sure our older guests were in easy access rooms.
The whole family wants to do it again.
Thank you to the Whale Watch Family for a memory our family will cherish forever

“Cliffside-amazing view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights (in the Cliffside room). I booked it because from the pictures online it seemed to have the best view, and it did not disappoint!! From our deck we had the beautiful (though slightly obstructed because of trees) view of the ocean and beach private beach below. We got the view sunsets and sunrise without leaving the bed! At night, we left the sliding door open and listened to the waves crashing on the beach...

The room itself is small and slightly dated, but comfortable and clean. The bed was very comfortable. Our breakfast got served in the community room next door which was blocked off from other guests until after we were done eating. The breakfast was served on time, promptly as we requested at 9 am; perfect portions and temperature too.

The access to the beach-narrow stairs down the cliffside. The beach is gorgeous! There aren't too many restaurants in the area, though we did try Mariachis just a couple of blocks down and drove up to Pizza n Cream in Point Arena. We hiked in Bear Gulch and visited Fort Bragg (about an hour away) the first day and Gualala Point the next. We barely saw any other people which was truly amazing!

“Charming and great service”

Stayed at the Whale Watch Inn for one night...wished it had been a little longer. Great staff, breathtaking views and a very tasty warm breakfast brought right to your room! The weather was amazing, so we were able to have breakfast on the balconey, which was wonderful. Though we didn't have time, the fireplace was ready to go when we arrived...a really nice touch. We stayed in the bath suite...the only complaint that I had was that the room required updating. The furniture was starting to come apart, the bedspread looked warn, the flooring in the bathroom was very dated, etc... With a few updates, the room would be spectacular. That being said, everything was clean and service was top-notch (and if you arrive on a Saturday, they have a wonderful little happy hour with snacks and wine...VERY nice.

Room Tip: Perhaps ask which have been updated.
