My wife and I stayed in one of the ready set-up tents for 3 nights at the end of May during the middle of a two week drive across California. I'm pretty certain that these were our best nights sleep during the whole of our trip. We absolutely loved Evergreen Lodge! It's about a 40 minute drive from the main area of Yosemite, some of the drive is through the remains of the forest fire from 2013 but don't let that put you off. Once you arrive at the Lodge the check in process was incredibly easy and the nice chaps behind the desk told us where everything was.
There is a small shop that sells everything from sandwiches to t-shirts (as well as a fantastic range of Californian beers *take note chaps). It's not silly prices either which is good.
The bar/tavern has a pool table and screen showing sports in the evening and is quite buzzy with people in the evening. You can also choose to have dinner in there, or in the restaurant. Some of the food we had was fantastic, and considering you are in the middle of nowhere, it was really fresh and tasty. They also serve really good beers behind the bar (*take note chaps).
The recreation area had a variety of board games to play, plenty of seats to just chill out and read a book etc plus a nice open fire.

We did a recreation trip to Yosemite Valley one day, if I remember correctly our guide was called Freddie. He took us all around the Yosemite Valley floor and told us loads of interesting facts about the waterfalls, wildlife, Native Indians etc which was a really fun day out.
I could not fault the staff here. Every one of them that we met had the time to talk to us, ask us how we were getting on and if we needed anything. That's from front of house staff to the waitresses in the restaurant, really nice people and all quite young too just having a good time, and it seemed like everyone was happy in their jobs.
About a 20 minute drive away is Hetch Hetchy Reservoir which is really worth a visit.
There was a wedding on whilst we stayed there and the recreation area was decorated like something out of the movies with lots of Chinese lanterns strung across the grass. It looked absolutely amazing, as did the bride and groom, what a really special place to hold your wedding.
Overall I really couldn't fault this place and given the chance I would go back there tomorrow. If you want peace and quiet, good food, really friendly people, no TV, no Wifi, no phones and the chance to gaze at one of the most star filled skies you will ever see then Evergreen Lodge is the place.More
