Looking for a seafood place for Christmas eve dinner in Huntington Beach / Newport Beach area. Was hoping for a local place instead of a chain but most of the local places closed early and this is not a chain we have at home so we went for it.
The atmosphere was very festive with Christmas decorations and the staff in Christmas sweaters and Christmas "flair". The view was great with several boats and some houses across the harbor lit up. The entertainment (the staff dances every once in a while) was also fun and added to the festive feel.
The food was very good. Three of us had a steam pot and one had salmon. The steam pots contained a lot of food - enough to share around, have plenty to eat and still take a little home. In one pot, the crab was a tiny bit overcooked and the scallops had way too much garlic but the mussels were perfect. In the other pots, the crab and shrimp were just right. The ear of sweet corn, though not as good as we get straight from the field at home, was pretty darn good.
Will definitely visit a Joes in the future.
