We first stayed at the Grateful Bed years ago. After one stay at the charming and beautifully appointed Grateful Bed, and meeting proprietors Carol and Rick Turner, we cannot imagine staying anywhere else, and have visited a couple of times a year ever since. Carol's sense of taste and talent is everywhere, and Rick's sense of humor adds a lightness and warm welcome. Carol's substantial talent for cooking and her style bring gorgeous and delicious breakfasts, and we have met interesting and friendly guests at the table and shared a leisurely, wonderful breakfast time with them. The rooms are simply beautiful, well-appointed and bring a sense of ease. We most heartily recommend this treasure of a find.

We stayed at the Grateful Bed for the Chico Wildflowers ride. All the guest staying at the inn that weekend were doing the ride. Since the ride starts early in the morning I wasn't counting on a breakfast on Sunday morning. However, Carol and Rick rise to the occasion and serve us a wonderful, bountiful meal at around 6:30 A.M. The inn is beautiful restored and maintained. I love every moment of our Chico weekend at the Grateful Bed. Thank you for the hospitality Carol and Rick!

We stayed here for a couple of nights during our trip around California. This was one of nicest places we stayed on our trip and definitely the most homely. The warm welcome from our hosts on our arrival set the the tone for the stay in their gorgeous home. The room itself was beautifully decorated and the attention to detail in the period bathroom really added to the atmosphere of the room.

The breakfasts were freshly cooked and baked by our hosts and were absolutely delicious. guests are also invited to help themselves to the various goodies on offer in the fridge - ice cold sodas definitely go down well after a day of hot Californian driving.

Rick and Carol are both great hosts and are very in tune with what their guests want and need and their hospitality really adds to this being the perfect B&B experience.

We love this place! Hosts are great, lots of extra touches, amazing gourmet breakfast, private bathrooms, clean, pleasant, great location, superb in every way!
