I recently stayed at this Hotel for a big CFA Cat Show that was at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. It took less than 5 min. to get to the Fairgrounds from Hotel. Lots of Restaurants close by, easy Freeway access. The Breakfast that was provided every morning was great, good food and a clean enviroment. All of the staff were very friendly and willing to do anything that was needed.
Had to get up early both mornings so went to bed early at night and was not a problem, this was a very quiet Hotel, the outside area seemed like a safe enviroment. Will stay here again.

This hotel was able to meet all of my needs! The breakfast was fantastic and the service at the front desk was wonderful! I was attending classes at one of the local universities in the area, and everytime I needed help with the internet, the front desk was able to guide me through the steps. The room was clean, looked brand new, and the bed was very comfortable! Because I was traveling from a different country, it was nice to know that this hotel was so willing to take care of my needs. I hope to return again soon!

I stay in a lot of hotels due to business travel, and this hotel was definitely sub-standard. Outwardly, everything looked clean; but we encountered many shortcomings: room definitely had cigarette odor, remote control for tv was missing, cold water in sink barely trickled out, there were empty miniature alcohol bottles in ice bucket and top shelf of closet, there was used loufah brush and back massager on top shelf of closet, there was trash in top drawer of night stand (one item was an empty prescription bottle with "strawberry ice" label), and although minor, there was no microwave or "do not disturb" sign in the room (microwave in hotel kitchen area would have been nice). Front desk did give me $10 discount when I mentioned the uncleanliness but I will not be a repeat customer.

Positives: good location/access to freeway. Chinese restaurant across the street was surprisingly good.

We are always pleased with Holiday Inn Express and this is no exception. The property is very clean, nice, and well maintained. The location is very close to the beach and easy to access. The breakfast is great and very extensive, including great sources of protein.

Our room was very quiet and nice without any smells except a clean smell. We love this location and we will definitely be back!

Others have mentioned the pool in the parking lot but that is a bit misleading. There is a breezeway between the front door and the pool and the pool is completely enclosed with a fence. The pool is plenty warm enough to enjoy in January and the hot tub is really warm!

One thing to note is that there is no guest laundry here at the property so if you need laundry you will have to find a laundromat. The one on the exit just north of the hotel, next to the 7-11 is a pickup spot for day labor so it is kind of rough to hang out in...just a note.
