We stayed in three different hotels during our trip to Bhutan. Tiger's Nest was the last. The rooms were the best we had, as was the view to Tiger's Nest. Food was the worst I've had on my trips anywhere (but nobody got sick, so no problem with hygiene).
It should be noted that food is very poor in Bhutan (I don't refer to hygiene though, nobody of our group got sick unlike in India). But don't expect anything delicious unless you go to luxury resorts.
The location of Tiger's Nest Hotel is attractive for its view. However, not all rooms have a view. Some people of our group were quite unhappy with their rooms having windows to the backyard were there were fires (burning trash perhaps) and giving smoke. After very much insisting, some were allowed to change to a room with a view. So don't take no for an answer if you end up with a room opening to smoke.
Also, the hotel is not close to Paro town, so independent sightseeing or shopping in town is not possible.
The room was large and clean and the most attractive we had in Bhutan. It would have been more attractive if Bhutanese decerations were added. Service was okay. There is a high-speed internet for free disposal at the reception area.
However, the food was awful, hardly anything to eat. The dinner buffet consisted solely of rice, some potato stuff, some kind of boiled eggs and beans. I asked if this is all and they said yes, this is all. No meat or anything filling unless you want to stuff your stomach with those boiled eggs. You may understand my relief when later on some tofu was added to the buffet - not that they told me that anything else is coming but luckily my friend noticed it was brought. I had been so afraid of being hungry all night long that I was so happy for the tofu.
For breakfast there was hardly anything to eat. I ended up with white toast with marmalade and corn flikes and juice and tea. The only other thing offered was fried egg. In the other hotels there were at least bananas, here nothing else than what I mention above. I strongly advise anyone who travels to Bhutan take some snacks with them (granola bars etc) unless staying in luxury resorts.
Room Tip: Do your utmost to get a room with a view to Tiger's Nest. The backside rooms suffer from smoke f...
