“Clean, comfortable, nice service, tasty food - a pleasant start to our Bhutan trip”
Stayed here for 2 nights with a birdwatching group of 8. Rooms were simply furnished but very clean, some had balconies. Beds were cosy, firm but comfortable, hot water bottles were available on request, and the fan heater in the room was very welcome with our 5am starts, but otherwise not really needed! Ensuite bathrooms were adequate with ample hot water and reasonable shower flow.
Breakfast was cornflakes, eggs and toast; evening meals comprised soup, followed by a buffet of about 7 different dishes - a sort of westernised Indian/Chinese mixture which I thought tasted pretty good - usually 2 meat choices, rice, noodles and vegetarian options, followed by a dessert of banana or apple fritters. We had our first introduction to Bhutanese beer, Druk 11000 which was okay although a little strong. Wine was available on the first evening, but not the second - I don't think there's usually much demand for it at 1200 rupees per bottle!
Service throughout was excellent; all the staff were lovely and very helpful. All-in-all a very pleasant start to our week in Bhutan.
