It was November and so not many people around so felt a real ghost town. I guess without knowing the history it was difficult to understand the setting.

Probably as close as you can get to "How it was" back in the day. I prefer late Fall to avoid the crowds that are there daily during the summer months. Perfect location for some really incredible photography opportunities.

At first I was hesitant to pay the $12 entrance fee (2x$6), but after visited, it was well worth the money. Many historic buildings, mines... uber-photogenic place!!!

If you are in the neighborhood, go visit - I enjoyed Bodie beter than going to Yosemite.

This town is well worth a visit. If you've stayed overnight and found out how cold it can get in August and seen the thin walls and drafty houses its amazing that anyone lived here at all.
