“Rustic”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

I recently spent a night here during non-skiing season. The room was adequate although the pillows were flat and the lighting was sparse in the room. The food was so-so. You have to park in a large lot across the street. The entry doors need to be automatic and not the standard swing doors in order to get luggage in and out of the lodge. This place does have lots of character and is the only hotel/lodge around for miles.

I had to go to the restaurant at the end of the Village Shops to get my room key from the bartender. There is no signage in the lobby to direct folks to the restaurant when reception is closed.

“A little dated but I wasn't there for the condo!”

Yes, the condos are a little dated and in need of refurbishment but ours was spotless and very well equipped and at the end of the day we were basically only there for sleeping so we weren't too bothered.
The staff were friendly and the shuttle service to the slopes was excellent. We ate in both the Creekside restaurant and pizza restaurant and while maybe a little understaffed (Creekside) the food and service was good.
A great location for family's with kids.

“Loved it and will absolutely be returning next summer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

I spent the past five days at the rustic resort in Bear Valley. They have a beautiful lobby which is stockpiled with games and lots of space for your choice of mingling or not. The Food is most delicious which combined with the hospitable and timely staff makes it altogether a most wonderful experience. The pool has nine feet of clearance on the deep end which is a nice change from other hotels I have had the unfortunate chance of experiencing. Overall I would give Bear valley five stars and I will definitely be returning next year!

“Lodge Headwaters Restaurant - Extremely Bad Service”

Arrived at 7:45 pm with my family for dinner. At 9:00pm our appetizer and food had still not arrived. The restaurant was not full, we were never asked if we wanted refills on our drinks or bread. Other tables were properly attended to. People that arrived after us had their food served. We asked several times about our order....no one came back to inform us of the status. We left at 9:00pm after speaking to on-duty Manager. She was dismissive, would not acknowledge the issue and asked us to pay for our 2 beers. I have emailed the Lodge and registered an official complaint. This was our first time to Bear Valley, we were visiting from Canada. I'll stick to Jasper and Banff for my alpine trips, they know how to provide good service with a smile.

Room Tip: Don't stop to eat at the Lodge....keep going.

“Plan to return for fall colors”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2011

Rustic, charming hotel with a wonderful room having windows that open to fresh mountain air and a babbling brook below. Good food in the Pizza shop, including delightful churro sundae. Very good breakfast selection including their own homemade rolls and nut bread. Had much longer review written, but can't seem to get it sent.
