We choose Olite as a default on the way to the Pirennes,We found clean cozy no thrills Parador located in a very nuice building,

Staff was extremely friendly and reastaurant very good and nice menu. Certanly recommended as a stop over. City itseldf very boring.

Parador de Olite is a destination in itself. An authentic fairytale castle in Spain in a lovely town. Paradors are the only place to stay in Spain in my opinion because of the history of each place-they are hotels that are preserving the history and architecture of Spain. Use the Parador website and take advantage of the deals like 5 night card.

We had booked two nights at this Parador in Olite not realising that we were arriving bang in the middle of the ''Patronales'' week long fiesta/festival to celebrate the area's Patron saint.
This meant that the tiny, beautiful village of Olite with it's magical fairytale castle and stunning ancient cathedral and related buildings was not the very quiet and peaceful village we expected! However, the hotel staff were brilliant from start to finish - from ensuring we had a programme of events so that we would know what was happening throughout the day and evening (festivities started at dawn/early morning and went on til 3am and beyond!) to offering advice on parking (there is a free public car park a few minutes from the hotel) and looking after our baggage on the day we checked out so that we could enjoy a late morning and afternoon in Olite before heading to our next destination. Our standard bedroom was beautiful - lovely huge bathroom and little 'balcony' and the breakfast and dinner (we only ate in the restaurant one night) was excellent - we had the 'festival' menu. We enjoyed a fantastic two days and evenings of the fiesta - including some very high quality live bands and the terrifying but highly entertaining 'Torico de Fuego' where a guy with a bull's mask loaded with fireworks chased children through the narrow streets surrounding the town plaza where most of the entertainment took place. Oilte and the Parador highly recommended.

What a brilliant hotel in a fantastic location. Our only disappointment was we only spent one night here having spent the previous two in Calahorra...if only it had been the other way round!
Not only is the Parador great, Olite itself is a fantastic town to visit........
