We stayed from 30th August to 9th September 2011. Although we had requested a double room, we got twin beds in Room 416 for the first night; as we arrived around midnight nothing could be done about that. The room, though clean, was very cramped, the furniture a bit grotty and the air-conditioning leaked. The next morning we were able to change to a double room (512), which wasn't bigger but much better laid out. The furniture was in better shape and the air-conditioning fine. As before, everything was perfectly clean. The breakfasts were good - a very big choice, including cooked savoury food, cereals, cold savoury and sweet foods, with plenty of fruit, though some of it was tinned. Coffee was unimpressive and strong English tea not available. We were not on the full-board option, but did eat at the hotel a couple of times in the evening; we found this less impressive - it is a canteen system and the food gets stale. Provided you choose carefully you can eat well and cheaply for €9, but I was glad we were not tied to it every evening. However, the house wine - white and red - is excellent value. As regards criticisms others have raised, it is true the pool area is small and TV is poor, both for the lack of English programmes and bad-quality screens in the rooms. Apparently something was supposed to be happening about the satellite dishes, but we saw nothing of that while we were there. We did not have any problems with the staff; while they were not falling over themselves to be helpful they were perfectly OK when approached. There is a general air of a once quite posh hotel having had as little money spent on it as possible - yes, the carpets do need replacing, for example. We (like some others) also had stomach problems, but are not at all sure this was the hotel's fault. If you do decide to book, check the prices across lots of sites; we found hotels4u.com was by far the cheapest.
