“Quiet enclosed bay - hotel well placed for quiet and sandy beach.”

Quite a surprise for us - first time in Mallorca. Really quiet end of the bay, with the best bit of beach in front of the hotel. This meant we could have breakfast and other meals outside the front of the hotel overlooking the beach and bay - admittedly before the sun made its way round from the back of the hotel! A couple of PC's for internet access (paying), free WiFi in reception/ foyer area. Comfortable lounge area and bar.

We had an apartment which proved spacious and sufficiently appointed. Not luxurious, but did the job and had 2 balconies "facing the hills" ie car parks with hills in the distance. The back of the hotel faces sunwards most of the day, which was good for us. Frustrating to have a TV with only one English channel. Made worse by the fact that it had blanket coverage of the Michael Jackson trial!

Really helpful staff. Good service. Breakfast plentiful but nothing to look forward to. We had dinner twice, which was fair value and reasonable quality.

Great range of activities in the area. Walking, climbing, bike shop hiring quality MTB and road bikes. Lake District (England) size hills, but limestone for a range of challenges. Would plan to stop here again when going back to walk the GR221 which goes up through the Tramontana mountains.

Room Tip: Front balconies face westwards to the bay, but are over the promenade. I noticed few people sitting...

“Good value and clean”

Returned from this hotel on 16th October 2011 after a week on B&B. Clean rooms, good showers, no children, small but good pool, free sunbeds. Breakfast is for the Germans, ( Black bread/plastic cheese etc. But lots of coffee and juice. We were on a walking holiday, there were daily weather updates provided, so for us it was just great.

“Room for improvement”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

According to the local English language Majorcan news paper tourism on the island is in decline with competitors such as Ibiza doing better. One of the main reasons given is a general sense of complacency and lack of drive to improve. My opinion is that the Marina typifies that problem.
It has a plum location it what has to be the best part of Port de Soller, right next to the best and most attractive beach along the port's shoreline. It has modern and well presented facilities with good sized clean and well appointed rooms. The let down comes with the poor quality of dining and lack of motivation amongst many of the staff. Breakfast is let down by poor quality and lack of attention to detail. An example of this would be the use of powdered orange consentrate drink. Majorca prides itself on its home grown citrus fruits which are plentyful and cheap so why cut corners? As far as dinner is concerned I would strongly recommend that guests avoid the half board option and look elswhere for their evening meal. The choice and quality of food and drink seems to be approached on the basis of how can we (the hotel) save money rather than how can we impress i.e. powdered orange.
The staff seem to be a mixture of naturally happy and outgoing personalities and rather serious and pre-occupied individuals who see guests as a nuisance and an irritating interruption. This lack of consistancy perhaps shows a lack of good management when it comes to getting everybody motivated and aware of what the priorities are.
I have to say that with only a few changes here and there the Marina could be a great place to stay. It just seems such a shame.

Room Tip: Go for a sea facing room. The views are worth the extra.

“WONDERFUL HOLIDAY GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

Last week we returned from another wonderful holiday at the Marina hotel in Soller. We stayed for one month and will most definitely be returning. A great percentage of the guests are "Returners", which speaks for itself. The hotel is ideally situated directly by the beach. It is run very professionally by the owners whom are a very firendly family, together with their very efficient staff. It certainly is value for money. We found the evening meals to be very good with a choice of either meat or fish as a main course. There are wonderful views from the bedrooms at both back and front of the hotel. Anyone whom moans should remember that it is not a 5 star hotel but a very sucessful 3 star hotel. We look forward to returning to our favourite resort in the future. x

“Perfect location in Puerto de Soller”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

Just back from 5 nights at this excellent little hotel. It is worth much more than it's 2 stars. Firstly it is in an excellent location right on the bay. You can eat breakfast on the promenade immediately in front of the hotel and the other side of the promenade is the beach.

Staff on reception were very friendly and helpful. We had a room in the main building overlooking the pool which was great. Pool was really clean and we always had plenty of sunbeds to choose from and it was nice and quiet. Decent size room and bathroom. Very clean and tidy. The room had air conditioning but no hairdryer and no fridge.

Breakfast is basic but ok. Just bread, rolls, hard boiled eggs, jam, ham and cheese. Some cereal and the odd bit of fruit. Fine to set you up for the day though.

Didn't eat here in the evenings although we did have a drink and olives on the promenade and they often have live music playing. Great spot to look out over the bay and see the sunset. We ate 3 times at the Ses Oliveres just 5-10 minutes walk along the bay (turn right as you come out the hotel) which was fantastic food and very friendly staff. Reasonably priced. We also ate next door to that at the Randemar. Again great food but we felt it a bit formal and the staff less friendly. We recommend the Ses Oliveres.

Did a day trip to Palma on the tram to Soller then old train to Palma. All easy from the hotel as the tram stop is about 2 minutes up the road. We got the longer bus back to go via Valdemossa and Deia so you see some great scenery.

All in all a great stay and I would go back to the Marina.
