“Holiday in Soller”

We arrived at the hotel at 9-30pm, after a nightmare with the taxi driver who couldnt locate the hotel. after a while the driver stopped at a local bar and asked someone, he then drove us to the harbou and told us to go right, after half hours walk we still could find the hotel. when we asked someone they said we were on the wrong side of the harbour!!!!!!! got to the hotel only to find that citric hotel was the company name and the hotel is known by a different name. The hotel owner was a bit rude as we checked in late, and we had missed tea. she did arrange for a bowl of pasta to be given to us. we got the keys to our room, which was ok, basic but clean. we then went to the hotel bar and we had paid for all inclusive, to be told we had to pay for drinks after 10pm!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND we could have lager or wine no spirits we had to pay for them!!!!!!!!!! breakfast was nice ceral bread cheese and meats with juice and coffee. Dinner and tea was you got what you were given there was no choice!!!! On one night we were given a rare steak and chips, I asked what the meat was to be told veal, I asked if i could have a salad and the hotel manager went nuts!!!!! if you are planning to go to this hotel and you dont eat meat I suggest you tell them on arrival, as every meal had meat. The harbour where the hotel is, is stunning and very beautiful. There were alot of people in the hotel who like walking holidays, and if you also like to walk this hotel is ideal for you. Soller is very beautiful and quiet there are no bars or clubs and you can hear the sea at night. there is lots to see and places to visit, Palma is 20 minutes away on the local bus, and Soller town centre.

Room Tip: rooms are on three levels there is a lift but it holds two adults or one adult and a suitcase

“NOT AS BAD AS EXPECTED”

we stayed for a week all inclusive at the Citric Hotel from the 23rd October. We had read the reviews before we went and were a bit apprenhensive. The first room we received room 311 was awful. Really uninhabitable but we did request another room and were given a room the following morning. There was very little staff but what there was we felt they did their best. Perhaps a few more hands on the deck would help everyone. Also a notice board to let you know what you were getting to eat at night would be nice, but part of the fun I suppose was the suspense for us all waiting to see what food it would be coming out of the kitchen. To be honest, I wouldn't rush back to the Citric, but if I got a really cheap deal again I suppose I would and know what to expect. We have been to Port Soller on many previous occasions and will be back again.

Room Tip: Rooms to the front I guess would be bet

“A Week at the Citric”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

The location of this hotel is excellent, especially for people who go to enjoy the walking and hiking in the mountains. The hotel itself is basic but then the prices are low. At least you have your own room and en-suite which is better than staying at the refuge in a dorm! Drawbacks were dodgy shower, there only ever being at best lukewarm water, telephone in room that didn't seem to be able to accept incoming calls. A friend tried twice to get put through to the room but without success each time. It was evident that someone came into the room each day to "clean" it but the bed sheets were never changed. I know this because having cut my legs and arm in a fall they bled over the bed sheet and this remained on the bed for the entire week. Fortunately, there was another bed in the room to sleep in! I didn't really find the staff very helpful and they never thought to ask if everything was OK even once, and never asked about how my stay had been when I booked out. I feel the staff didn't really want to be bothered with you if at all possible which is a bit off putting. With a little bit more effort on their part it would be a great place.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the mountain tend to be on the dark side.

“Excellent value hotel”

Just returned after a really good stay. Fantastic location, on a dead quiet road, overlooking one of the prettiest bays you could hope for. Beautiful calm swimming conditions. Regular and cheap local transport. Great place to stay if you are a walker. Very friendly, kind and efficient staff. Everything clean and tidy. Tasty, varied meals - much better than we'd expected from a low-budget package. Only two minor faults: water too cold for shaving, and shampoo not replaced in bathroom. Thanks to all the staff, who helped make it a happy and memorable stay.

Room Tip: For a shady room, choose the mountain view - it's a cliff, really. I was happy, because it kept...

“Cheap, basic and acceptable”

We stayed a week at this hotel. Yep it was extremely basic and the decor of the bathroom was of a bygone age!!! But.... the room was cleaned everyday and although there was no choice of food, the meal was very tasty and hot.
We had a balcony with possibly the best view in Soller........ the beach was a few steps down the road............ the resort is the best on the island..... and the price of our stay........!!!! just fantastic!!!!

Room Tip: Thank goodness for the balcony and the view.............
