Arriving in a new big city is always a pain! We choose Sonali hotel because of its location and its reasonable size. We were pleasantly surprised with the excellent quality of service and efficiency offered. Staff is very welcoming and helpful. From laundry to room service and billing, we had only good experiences. Rooms are not too big, but clean and comfortable. Same for the bathrooms. All together a good deal with no bad surprise!

We needed to spend two nights in Bhopal on our way from Sanchi to Indore so we chose this hotel because of it's proximity to the railway station and to the incredible bazaar which is one of the largest in India. It is a budget hotel catering to Indian and foreign tourists. Very clean and efficiently operated. Food is brought to the dining room from outside and is incredible. One of the best meals we had during our month in India. Dum aloo Bhojpuri outstanding. An easy walk to the vegetable market and the bazaar. The room was comfortable with a small balcony looking down on the street. Located one block from Hamidia Road so relatively quiet. The main floor filled with incense at night which might bother some travelers.

I had travelled to Bhopal with Spouse and a small baby. The stay in Hotel Sonali was pleasant. The hotel staff was friendly and warm. Especially, Mr Prashant who helped me a lot while booking the return tickets from Bhopal. I would definetely recommend this hotel to anybody visiting Bhopal.

However, Bhopal in general (and apart from the Hotel and staff) was a thorough disappointment. People in the city were rude, ill mannered and not at all friendly. My overall impression about the city was that it is dirty and ill maintained except for a few locations in the New Bhopal area. Hats off to the Madhya Pradesh goverment for marketing a product so well without developing any incentives such as cleanliness in city, roads, public toilets etc. Overall i would say that there was NOTHING incredible about the "Heart of Incredible India"

The hospitality from the staff and owner was overwhelming. The food was great, they provided everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
The trip started with a goof up from Cleartrip through whom I had booked my reservation. The Hotel had not confirmed the availability of a/c room to Cleartrip which I had booked till the last date since they were already booked. I landed there and they were surprised but asked if i was comfortable with the Non a/c room and the balance amount will be adjusted in complimentary breakfast. Since it was winter, it was not a big issue and i agreed.
The food was of excellent quality and I hardly ate outside during my 4 days stay. The staff was very helpful and owner Mr. Sameer was very hospitable. On the last day I was having problem in travel booking, so they went out of the way to get things done. I have stayed in many hotels and resorts in my life but never have been treated like this. it felt like 'Athithi Devo Bhav' was ingrained in everyone of them and was like a second home.
I would recommend going to this hotel to everyone visiting Bhopal if you are not looking for a very fancy hotel.
