Juan Dolio is a very quiet tourist area with lots of closed or abandoned buildings. We were driving from Santo Domingo to Punta Cana so stopped for a couple of days. Embassy Suites is in a gated community with golf courses and very expensive villas.

Rooms were suites and typical and very clean, no concern with towels or housekeeping. Fridge, coffee maker and microwave.
Free breakfast and manager's reception.
Pool is older and pool bar is not in use, but they do come and serve from restaurant or you can bring your own.

Staff very- free wifi in lobby.

No beach but access and shuttle to Cafe Del Sol - nice place - unfortunately we had some rain

My family (2 adults and 2 kids) and another family (separate reservation) chose our Christmas vacation hotel based on the lavish description on the web site. we found very polite staff and a secure setting, but Important incorrect and deceiving description on Embassy/Hilton web site: "Luxury and comfort" but many of our towels were frayed and had holes, room carpet was very dirty with stains, pillows were hard, bedroom TV speaker was raspy, room curtain did not fully close, safe was NOT attached to wall, gym was closed, separate spa facility was abandoned, swim-up pool bar abandoned, and much more. The biggest Hilton/Embassy lie on the web site is the beach photo on http://embassysuites.hilton.com/en/es/hotels/hotelpromo.jhtml;jsessionid=A3Y4ORNFAPD22CSGBJBNMQQ?ctyhocn=JUDOLES&promo=JUDOLES_Service_ammenities&cid=OH,ES,judoles,ServiceF The featured beautiful beach and pool is NOT available to hotel guests and has not been used by guests for a long time, according to the front desk attendant. Guests are shuttled to another "private beach" that has no pool and the surroundings are abandoned garbage filled properties--nothing like the manicured setting of the photo on your web site. In all my years of travel (40+ nights each year for 20 years), this Embassy Suites was by far the biggest disappointment of my life--in fact, I would say that Hilton is deceiving and lying to its customers to fill this far from luxurious hotel. Does Hilton inspect hotels and revise web site info? Other than the polite and helpful staff, my family and our friends were highly disappointed. Hilton/Embassy stole our money and almost ruined our vacation with this deception.

I stayed here recently with a friend for a stopover (1 night) on our way to Punta Cana. I didn't believe an Embassy Suites by Hilton could be as bad as some reviews say, but unfortunately it is. Things went bad right from the start. There was no bellboy at the door on our arrival (7pm), we had to look for one. Our room had a foul smell and the AC was not working properly but we were tired and decided to stay anyway. The carpet in our room was soiled and ragged, this hotel is in urgent need of a total renovation. The breakfast buffet was limited and disappointing. Now I can confirm all the bad reviews of this hotel.
After having had a wonderful stay at the first rate Embassy Suites Reforma in Mexico City one month ago, I am amazed by the abysmal difference in quality of two hotels belonging to the same chain.

The pools should be cleaned. Too many leaves. The hotel is very Dominican, nice looking on the outside and cheap on the inside. The quality is just not there. The grounds are pretty. The golf and tennis were very good. The chef(s) should be shot. Everything that I ever ate there had a pork smell, even the bread rolls. I ate at El Meson and their food was fantastic. I expected more from this hotel. Luckily, there is still time to salvage this place.
