We visit every year and this is always one of our favorite places to either kick back and enjoy the food, grab a drink or get crazy kite boarding, best instructional group ever!

Amazing place with great staff, incredible atmosphere, beautiful scenery and endless activities! With Kite Beach directly in front of the hotel an Canarete a five minute moto taxi ride away, this place is unbeatable in terms of fun as well as value. I rarely leave a place knowing I will come back, but I cannot wait to return to extreme hotel. If you are looking for a relaxing, easy going, and unique carribean experience extreme hotel is the place to go.

I can't even begin to say how much I enjoyed my stay at Extreme Hotel. Everyone was very friendly and always ready to dive into action. I will say like others who reviewed before that it is not a place to sit in the lap of luxury. They provide a bed to sleep in, a fresh water tank to drink (quite nice of them!), a private bathroom, and a great balcony to relax on. That's about it as far as your room goes.

As far as the property itself, it AMAZING. There is a little restaurant on the beach and the workers there are great. Alturo and Hector helped my friend and I out with our spanish and provided top notch service. This is my first stay where I was on a first name basis with everyone there including the other hotel guests. I loved it. Everyone staying there was very welcoming and offered great advice to us during our whole trip. My friend got really nasty bug bites on our late night dinner adventures, and G from the front desk told her where she cold find aloe plants all over the property to help! I did not participate in an fitness classes, but everyone else was saying how patient and awesome Zack was as an instructor, and from just talking to him I could tell he was a really nice guy. The yoga instructor Grace was really helpful and nice. Her early morning yoga class was the most calming thing I've ever done! Oh and if is an option for you, do the waterfall tour. I don't want to give anything away, but I'll say it was a nice eye opening experience into the lives of the true Dominican people!

So enough of my ravings here are my true pros and cons.


Pros
I loved the open and welcome feeling this place has to offer.
The price is great
The food at the restaurant is great
Always something to do, and people to hang out with.
Great for young travelers like myself to gain some experience from the pros!

Cons
-I would have liked a little more housekeeping, but from what I saw it was just one women and she did the best she could.
-(Related more to cabarete itself) Watch out for the green ATM in town, it ate my friends card!
-I went when there were no mangos in season!

Extreme is basically a surfer and kite surfer hostel. A very friendly vibe. I came alone and quickly met lots of people and folks are very inclusive. It has a very healthy orientation with lots of gym activities, yoga classes, kite school and trapeze school. The rooms are old and very basic but have a fridge, ceiling fan, balcony, wifi and hot water. The beach bar is right on the beach and offers basic food from 11am. Only complaint is that there is no coffee before 11am! That said, right next door on the beach there is a hotel bar that serves a great breakfast with espresso for 250 pesos or the Cabarete Coffee company will deliver.
