“Even for a quick stop en route to Pushkar, avoid, avoid!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

We called the hotel to make our reservation early afternoon, speaking to a very pleasant gentleman, leading us to look forward to our stop in Ajmer and even planning a couple of things to do in Ajmer the next day.
After being greeted by a really, genuinely rude man on reception, who very clearly did not want us in his hotel - a couple of weeks later somebody told me that this type of place do not want foreigners to stay because they have to submit extra paperwork - we at least thought the room might make up for it.
Let me just say that had we not arrived at 11pm, there is no way we would have accepted either of the rooms that we saw to stay in, especially at R800 a night. The floor was dirty. The bed sheets were filthy - we could only sleep on the bed because we had brought a blanket with us (apologies British Airways, but your blanket did come in handy). The shower didn't run. It was noisy. I'm not sure what else to say. Backpackers and foreign travellers avoid.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

“2nd Visit to this hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

I checked in into this hotel last weekend on my visit to Ajmer Sharif. I have stayed over night 3 years back there too. I am sure there quality has degraded in last 3 years. This time i just took for 6 hrs, but rooms were really in a bad state. Bed sheets to ash tray both were looking ancient. Staff was helpful and arranged a religious tout for out visit to the shrine. Overall a disappointing experience all together. Next time when i visit Ajmer, i will look for new options.

Room Tip: Bargain a lot, they ended up giving me a room for almost peanuts.

“You can find something better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2011

I stayed for one night in this hotel, the staff is kind but the rooms aren't very good and is not very clean or at least they could make a better effort.

Check the bed sheets and toilet before to accept the room.

“Horrible Experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2011

I stayed here for about one month and I was extremely disappointed in the entire experience.

While the rooms were (fairly) clean and the staff (generally) helpful, the hotel was not located anywhere near the Dargah. They advertise it as such, but that is not true. Also, it was hard to get a good night's sleep because there were lots of other guests who used to run and scream through the hallways at 2 or 3 in the morning. I complained several times but nothing happened. Also, numerous things in the room broke: the TV, then the shower head, etc. Finally, I found the owner to be very disagreeable. He was quite nosy about my business, had a very haughty attitude and generally did not treat me with respect despite the fact that I stayed there for a month.

Overall, there are lots of other hotels close by which are a better choice. I didn't have enough time to look around because I was there on business, but my advice to you: go elsewhere!

“You Can Do Better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2011

I'll structure my review in terms of pros and cons.

Pros: The rooms in this hotel are actually pretty clean and nice, and the hotel staff were generally very helpful.

Cons: There are many. First, the hotel is not located anywhere near the Dargah (mosque), the main attraction in Ajmer, despite its claims to the contrary. I would estimate at least a 25-minute walk. Second, and this is for travelers who are planning to stay an extended amount of time, you will not receive a discount at this hotel as you might at any other establishment in India. I stayed for several weeks but was told that it would be impossible. Keep that in mind. Third, I did not have hot water for about 5-6 days. I tried to speak to the owner about this when I left to receive a small discount, but he initially refused and then only gave me a very tiny discount. I was extremely disappointed, considering I had given them weeks of business. Fourth, the hotel will claim that the clientèle are mainly business executives; however, the only customers I saw were college students who used to make noise until 2, often 3AM. This severely disrupted my sleep on numerous occasions, although the hotel did nothing about it.

Overall, there are a number of hotels in Ajmer closer to the Dargah which are cleaner, cheaper and nicer. I would recommend looking into them, and I'd stay away from Ajmeru.
