“Nice spot but ...”

We rolled into town after a glorious, arduous seven hour drive from Cachi on Ruta 40. As is the case in many small Argentine towns, street signs are at a premium so it was a bit difficult to find the hotel. We were making a circular sort of route from Salta to Cachi to Cafayate to Purmamarca and from there a drive over the Andes into the Atacama Desert. While the wine resort was perfectly lovely and serene with grand wine vistas, the place was our least favorite of the four, the others being the House of Jasmines, Alto, and Silencio.

The room was a trad small, as was the bath. There is nothing wrong with the place at all, it just suffered by comparison. Sadly, we had little time in Cafayate so there was no chance to compare this place with others. The drive there, however, is remarkable.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the winery view; others might prefer to overlook the pool area.

“enjoyable stay in pretty locale”

This property is a little ways out of town, so if you do not have a car, you may want to find a place more centrally located. However, because of its' location, it is quiet and peaceful. Our room had a terrace which overlooked a beautiful vineyard. It was ample in size, as was the bathroom, and very clean. The on-site dining room is quite good, and you can even have lunch served to you at the pool. The breakfast was quite a large spread. They were having problems with their internet connection while we were there, and it sounded like that might be a frequent problem. The staff was helpful and there are a couple of vineyards within easy walking distance. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We loved the view over the vineyards from our room.

“Things to improve....”

Cafayetta is a wonderful place to be in a beautiful mountain scenery. Full of life, with a good infrastructure, wineries and nice restaurants/pubs. Really a great holiday spot. Four kilometres/35 minute walk from the centre of town (up on a gravel road) on your way to the Amalaya winery and the waterfall is the Wine resort Cafayetta located. The building is a kind of hacienda with a nice swimming pool (cold water) and relaxing area. Everything is well decorated and cared for. Twelve functional rooms in a rustic style. Free bikes for rent and slow internet. The staff in reception speaks most of the time hardly English but is helpful and friendly. For example we asked if it was possible to have lunch outside? No problem, a table was taken from inside and placed in the lovely court yard and we were served an excellent meal with very good wine. Unfortunate in the evening after the lunch we were confronted with food poisoning. We are definitely not saying it was from the Wine resort restaurant but we found it somewhat strange that when we asked if any of the other guests had experienced any problems reception expressed that they would make an inquiry. That was it, no response every since was given back to us. No one ever asked how we were doing. A bit disappointing…..
Another challenge for this hotel is their identity. Do they want to be a romantic place were couple can have a good and quite time together or is it a place were families with small children have reunions? The two do not always mix well together. And finally, if you promise guests a welcome drink please serve it also. It's a little strange to talk about it but not to execute.

“Beautiful and quiet place to stay”

This is a very nice little hotel in Cafayate where we got to relax after a long (but wonderful drive) from Salta. They greeted us nicely, the room was good (lacking a little in lighting) and the grounds were maintained very well. Each room has a little patio which allows you to sit and admire the view of the mountains or the vineyards. We got to relax by the pool before a very nice supper in their dining room. The meal was good and so was their morning buffet. They offer wifi internet. They also have a few bikes at the guests disposal; the first couple of km are a little tough because of the dirt road but still a great option to have. The hotel is very quiet, all you hear are roosters and cows!

“Fabulous! Avoid Salta and come straight here!!!”

What a gem... we found this place on TripAdvisor and decided to try it out... they have a beautiful hotel and restaurant with fantastic grounds and a swimming pool with a view of the mountains and vineyard... Beautiful!

It's a little off the beaten track, so make sure you print off a map before you leave in case you miss the road sign... it really isn't difficult to get to, but you do have to keep your eyes open! ;-)

Room was lovely... very clean and reasonably sized...

It's the perfect location after the long drive down from Salta... we were quite disappointed with Salta to be honest and it was great to arrive here after a beautiful drive through the mountains to this little oasis...

Staff were extremely friendly... didn't eat in the restaurant, but the food looked fabulous... we ate at Terruno in town and it was extremely good compared to other places we had eaten at in Argentina...

Definitely recommended...
