“Old style Condos BUT quaint and pretty landscaping”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

We arrived Nov 5, 2011 at the changing of the Fall leaves. The area is beautiful and our Unit #2 backed up to the lake and every morning we had breakfast on the deck every morning. Wonderful walking trails. Our condo was very large. We could have comfortably housed 6-8 people. The unit was clean and had a fully stocked kitchen and plenty of towels and extra blankets. There was detergent in the cabinet for the washer / dryer. Old style 12cup coffee maker and living room had a sofa sleeper, love seat, & two recliners. Dining room table for 6. Mini bar with wine glasses, blender, shot glasses, & ice bucket.

Complaints or suggestions: pillows were flat and OLD. We bought a couple of new ones at Walmart up the road. The matress was cheesy and so we used ALL of the extra blankets to make extra padding on the bed. The buildings on the outside need some work and cleaning. The really large beautiful jacuzzi tub needs some TLC and all the artificial plants & flowers either need dusting or replacing. One of the recliners was broken so we had to be careful with it. But all in all these things were minor and we really enjoyed our stay. Peaceful Spacious Beautiful scenery. Will come back but will be better prepared for our stay.

Room Tip: Down near the marina is older but beautiful views and trails.

“Had a great time!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

We just returned from our vacation to Los Lagos. We had a wonderful time. We stayed in a 1 bedroom "A" unit (55A) in a phase 2 building. Check-in was easy and the front desk crew was very helpful. This is a gated community, so we felt very safe. Our first impression of the condo was very favorable. Our unit was very spacious for a one bedroom. We traveled with our 2 daughters (ages 16 & 12). They slept on the hide-a-bed. The condo had a full kitchen and was fully stocked. We had a nice size living room and a deck overlooking DeSoto Lake. The bathroom was huge with a shower stall and jacuzzi tub. We also enjoyed having 2 vanities. This was a definite perk since we had 4 people trying to get ready in one bathroom! The bedroom was also roomy with a king sized bed. We did feel like it was time to replace the mattress. It was not very comfortable. The pillows were also paper thin! Our condo was clean, but on the "surface" only. We found spilled dry coffee in the cabinet next to the dishes and we found candy wrappers & other trash under the couch. We also had problems with bugs! We didn't complain to management because we didn't want them spraying while we were there & we didn't want them in our condo when we weren't there. We saw several roaches in the kitchen, which really grossed me out! I did leave notes for them on the evaluation, so they'd know! The unit did have a stackable washer & dryer, which was a wonderful addition. They also provided plenty of laundry detergent. Los Lagos has a family pool and a new clubhouse. The pool was VERY small and was often very crowded! However, it felt great after a day of being hot & sweaty in the Arkansas sun! They also have an adults only pool, though we did not check it out. We enjoyed the area; very beautiful! We spent a couple days at Cortez Beach. We found it had some shady areas for sitting and picnicking, plus a nice beach area. DeSoto also has a beach area, but it's very small and the beach is gravel. Balboa Lake has a beautiful beach and we were told it's where the "kids" hang out. We did explore it one evening & found it to be very nice, but no shade if you were there during the day. Hot Springs Village is about 15 minutes from Hot Springs, which I didn't realize when I booked our vacation. We did make trips to Hot Springs and toured Bathhouse Row, shopped at the downtown shops & mall, went to Magic Spring/Crystal Falls and went to Gulpha Gorge. Overall, I was very pleased with our stay at Los Lagos. I would like to return again sometime! Just as an FYI, if you stay there & are interested in going to Magic Springs, check with guest services. We bought our tickets for $33. They are $44.95 at the gate. Wendy's had coupons and there were also coupons in the travel magazines, but none for this great of savings.

Room Tip: If you are getting a 1 bedroom, book an

“Great home base for a week in Hot Springs area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

We spent a week at Los Lagos for our 2011 vacation. We had an A-side unit (1 bedroom, sleeper sofa and full kitchen) that was either fairly new or recently remodeled. The unit was quiet (we were on the top floor) and was very comfortable. We didn't really use the resort facilities (pool and clubhouse) so we can't comment on those, although the 2 pools seemed on the small side. There is a nearby 4 mile walking trail that was very nice. The location provides easy access to Lake Ouachita and Hot Springs. We also made it to Petit Jean State Park in 80 minutes. Golf courses inside Hot Springs Village are very nice, but pretty expensive for guests.

“Don't be fooled! Make sure your not in a phase 1 unit!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2011

Apparently all of the other reviewers stayed in a phase 2 unit at Los Lagos. We booked a week there through RCI after reading the wonderful reviews and beautiful pictures. When we arrived we were SHOCKED to see that the unit we were in looked nothing like those pictures. Apparently if you book a Saturday check in you will be placed in a phase 1 unit - which is about 35 yrs old, very dated, and in extremely poor condition. I am shocked RCI gives this place a Gold status. When we shared our concerns to the office they were nothing but rude and basically said "That's what you get". Management was not much better. We survived but as the week went on we became more and more disgusted as to the cleanliness and conditions of this section of the resort. The furniture was worn and decorated in early 80's, the bed was so hard we had to buy a 2" foam topper, the dishes and utensils were filthy, the refridgerator was old, rusted, and had broken shelves, and to top it off there were lots of nasty bugs! And by the way they don't have wireless internet. You have to plug your laptop into a cord behind the TV and it doesn't even reach the table.
The "adults only" pool in this section of the resort was filthy! Bugs in the pool and whirlpool, broken chairs, garbage, and spider webs/ bugs on the windows of the pool house! If you decide to go to Los Lagos make sure you are NOT in a phase 1 unit. You WILL be disappointed!

“Grreeaat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2011

We were so surprised. Quite & pretty area. All the things you need were provided for you.
Maybe the only thing you may need is a hair dryer. Pool was still alittle too cold to enjoy when we went. Tennis courts and play ground were around the bend. And the lakes in the village are pretty, we saw acouple that had beach areas for swimming. Hot Springs is about 8 miles away but drive is pretty. FYI if you have children with you and want to enjoy the baths after asking alot and being turned down(age limit is 14), The Arlington will allow children under 14 to go in with parents to the baths.
