We just returned from our vacation to Los Lagos. We had a wonderful time. We stayed in a 1 bedroom "A" unit (55A) in a phase 2 building. Check-in was easy and the front desk crew was very helpful. This is a gated community, so we felt very safe. Our first impression of the condo was very favorable. Our unit was very spacious for a one bedroom. We traveled with our 2 daughters (ages 16 & 12). They slept on the hide-a-bed. The condo had a full kitchen and was fully stocked. We had a nice size living room and a deck overlooking DeSoto Lake. The bathroom was huge with a shower stall and jacuzzi tub. We also enjoyed having 2 vanities. This was a definite perk since we had 4 people trying to get ready in one bathroom! The bedroom was also roomy with a king sized bed. We did feel like it was time to replace the mattress. It was not very comfortable. The pillows were also paper thin! Our condo was clean, but on the "surface" only. We found spilled dry coffee in the cabinet next to the dishes and we found candy wrappers & other trash under the couch. We also had problems with bugs! We didn't complain to management because we didn't want them spraying while we were there & we didn't want them in our condo when we weren't there. We saw several roaches in the kitchen, which really grossed me out! I did leave notes for them on the evaluation, so they'd know! The unit did have a stackable washer & dryer, which was a wonderful addition. They also provided plenty of laundry detergent. Los Lagos has a family pool and a new clubhouse. The pool was VERY small and was often very crowded! However, it felt great after a day of being hot & sweaty in the Arkansas sun! They also have an adults only pool, though we did not check it out. We enjoyed the area; very beautiful! We spent a couple days at Cortez Beach. We found it had some shady areas for sitting and picnicking, plus a nice beach area. DeSoto also has a beach area, but it's very small and the beach is gravel. Balboa Lake has a beautiful beach and we were told it's where the "kids" hang out. We did explore it one evening & found it to be very nice, but no shade if you were there during the day. Hot Springs Village is about 15 minutes from Hot Springs, which I didn't realize when I booked our vacation. We did make trips to Hot Springs and toured Bathhouse Row, shopped at the downtown shops & mall, went to Magic Spring/Crystal Falls and went to Gulpha Gorge. Overall, I was very pleased with our stay at Los Lagos. I would like to return again sometime! Just as an FYI, if you stay there & are interested in going to Magic Springs, check with guest services. We bought our tickets for $33. They are $44.95 at the gate. Wendy's had coupons and there were also coupons in the travel magazines, but none for this great of savings.
