“Average Alba”

We were filled with trepidation finding out that Hilton Caracas no longer existed and that the socialist government had taken over the hotel. Interesting that Hilton and other hotel websites misrepresented the hotel as being "under renovation" when in reality, Hilton was losing its lease. Nothing looked renovated and nothing was under renovation during our one week stay there.

Lobby, room, elevators, bathroom, pool, restaurants were all acceptable and clean. Bedroom and bathroom showed particular wear and tear - broken window handles and chipped tiles. Clean, white new towels with ALBA proudly carved out of the terry cloth. Housekeeping was exceptional as was room service. Small fridge in hotel room was great for drinks and food storage, as was the in-room safety deposit box.

Reception and concierge were "hit and miss" - dependent on who you spoke with. There seemed to be a lot of manpower but nothing was done efficiently. Internet cafe on site was reasonable, NOT linked to Alba internet. Cheaper internet cafes in mall nearby with supermarket to buy basic drinks/food.

SAFETY : We has been alerted that the hotel was not in the best part of town, as such we stayed vigilant and never walked out at night. Cabs to and from restaurants directly. Daytime ventures out seemed safe enough. Travel agent on site was helpful with tours and hiring of a driver/tour guide.

  • Liked — Housekeeping and excellent/efficient room service.
  • Disliked — Hotel requires a major face-lift

“Not Hilton anymore”

This hotel is no longer in the Hilton family. It has been taken over by the Venezuelan government and an allied private company. Its name will (or already has) change to the Hotel ALBA-Caracas. The hotel's service is sub-standard, at best. The rooms are dated and dirty. The internet is outrageously expensive! And the area the hotel is located in is now very dangerous, particularly at night...plus there are few rstaurants around. If you want good service, nice rooms, and a good area, and value for $$...stay somewhere else!! You will not get any of that at the former Hilton Caracas!

“Caracas Venezuela”

I have gone to Caracas 3/4 times over t he past two years mainly due to my husbands work. We stayed at the Hilton Caracas and the hotel service is reflective of t he rest of the city, SLOW AND COULD CARE LESS WHAT YOU THINK! The hotel is clean but absolutely nothing wonderful just like the city. There are MANY homeless and grungy looking people that are extreemly rude. The best thing about Caracas is t he gold district in which the prices of gold are good, not the gems/diamonds. OVERALL, I would not waste my time if you are looking for a vacation spot!

I stayed ath the Hilton Caracas for 2 nights after an holiday in Los Roques.
The room was big and clean but absolutely very old style!
Breakfast in the morning is ok!
The check in is not quickly! Absolutely not!
The hotel has a good rate compare to others international hotels in Caracas!
The hilton in Caracas is a good solution if you are on a stopover and you want spend time in the city.
CARACAS IS NOT A SO DANGEROUS CITY!!!!!!!!!!!

“Great option for this city, but not great overall”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2007

The Caracas Hilton is safe and secure option in a fairly dangerous city. It's definitely more oriented for business travelers. I'm a single traveler, stayed there in early April 2007.
If you're on a stopover in Caracas before going to other parts of the country, do not stay in downtown Caracas unless you actually need to spend time in the city! Otherwise it's a $50+ cab ride each way to the airport, about 45-50 minutes away in good traffic.

Hotel staff is courteous but not willing to help. They even told me a cab to a place about 5 minutes driving away would be $20, whereas the cab driver himself asked only for $5.
The "guest services" desk is a misnomer, they're no help
Rooms are decent. Bed was hard but not unbearable. Bland decorations. Bathroom needed some work and updating.
