Almost on plaza de armas, this simple hostal will suit all simple travellers looking for no frills rooms to rest while travelling between Huancayo and Cuzco. Beside, with its lovely Iglesias and a great museo, Ayacucho deserves a legal stop to itself. A Doble habitacíon costs 130 Soles mid july 2011. No website, but an email address you can try to send. We did not, just walked in, coming from the MOLINA bus station. The hostal spreads on 2 patios. The first one is lovely but is busily noisy from early morning till late. And the second is with no charm, but is much quieter.
We like :
1 – Hot water 24/7 and quite quiet on the second patio.
2 – Wifi included, with large buffet breakfast served each morning in the first patio.
3 – 130 Soles and serviced every day.
We did not like :
1 – Nothing so far at 130 soles.
Tips :
1 – For noise sensitive travellers, ask for rooms on the second patio. There is a map showing all rooms of the hostal at the reception when check-in.
2 – Smart travellers wanting to buy bus ticket for the next trip, just go to the chosen bus company stop, and buy. No need to buy it through a travel agency because there is a commission and you must anyway go that bus company stop on the day of departure. To Andahuaylas, you’ll face almost 10 hours of rough, up and down trip and according to I PERU, LOS CHANKAS is the best choice. To Huancayo, almost as rough, choose MOLINA for this section. On either way, day trip is rewarding through breathtaking Andean scenery. Provided you’re strong enough to leave your eyes open all along the journey.
3 – Museo Hipolito Inanue is a bit away, about 30 minute walk toward the Universidad. It may be small, but it displays exceptional Wari remains. Mummies lovers are welcome.
